Hehe, Silly the Ghost is a quirky, over-the-top character I made up in around circa 1998. He's pretty much my signature character and anybody who knows me will know about Silly in one way or another.
I have a Silly the Ghost costume up in my room which my mum made for me in 1999 for a school talent show, and I made it to the finals, but I had chickenpox and couldn't compete. Dang. The play was simply about Silly belittling and humiliating his friend Pop. All wasn't over yet, because a sequel followed in 2000, and it introduced a new character Professor Blink, who invented a device which allows one person to imitate another person's actions, and obviously Silly had a lot of fun with that. The bad news was I made it to the finals YET AGAIN (almost beaten by the umpteenth performance of "Oops! I Did It Again!" however I went to Turkey and I never actually was able to perform at the finals. Darn.
Silly also has a line of picture/comic books titled Puties, which is about Silly and his friends going on a world trip with their Putie companions, but encounter evil forces along the way. I retired the series a few years ago after around 18 books but I never got around to making any more. Shame because it ended in a cliffhanger too. Silly and his mates were surrounded by a horde of horrendous dark Puties, who have already killed Silly's brother Chilli, one-time bad guy Rotty, and their respective Putie companions. Silly was also kidnapped, and seduced by a naked lemon-like Putie, and in the meantime, Silly's wife Minnie gave birth to (for reasons unknown) a demonic Putie. It was suggested that she's zoophilic.
Err... and for my birthday once upon a time (circa 1999), my mum had these awesome Silly/Minnie stamps made for my b'day.
Ahh... memories.
While Silly was still human all the way back in the 10th century, his name was John Smith, and after stabbing his father to death and committing suicide afterwards, young John came back to life as a ghost and he changed his name to Silly "the ghost" Gostly because he thought his birth name was boring.
hehe, that sounds really fun to read. did you actually have them published and put on the shelves to sell? you were about 10 when you started the story? that's v.impressive^^. all i remember doing when i was 10, was playing marbles and watching sailor moon.
By all means do not be embarrassed Sillygostly. I love the story and now want more! I used to make up stories to tell the big shetland collie dog we had when I was young. I would sit on the grass with her head on my lap and tell her the most wonderful fairy and other stories. I never really wrote them down except one about a cuscus (a possum like mammal found in New Guinea, surrounding islands of northeastern Australia and Indonesia). I must have read about it with fascination to have written a story about it! click on the following links to read about this funny little mammal. http://animal.discovery.com/guides/mammals/habitat/tropforest/spotcuscus.html http://www.answers.com/topic/common-spotted-cuscus
Arthur Ransome’s twelve books about adventures in small wooden boats are utterly captivating: you can almost feel the breeze on your cheeks, smell the "pemmican" (corned beef) sizzling in the pan over the fire, see the sun setting over the still water. Sailing at night, roaming through the woods, camping where and when one wishes. Fictional places, but recognisably based on the Lake District and the Norfolk Broads. If you read these books when you were younger, you’ll love doing so again; if you didn’t, you must. And they are a great gift for children.These are completely unadulterated reproductions of the 1930’s hardback originals, authentic in every respect from the line drawings to the dust jackets and gold-embossed spines. Absolute classics. Reviewed in CLASSIC BOAT magazine. "...it was Nauticalia who came up with the idea of presenting them as a boxed set. With the crossed Swallows and Amazon flags in gold on the ends, it makes a handsome showpiece".
We even had the flags!
The TV series began in 1963. Swallows and Amazons (1974) was a movie I gather.
On holiday with their mother in the Lake District in 1929 four children are allowed to sail over to the nearby island in their boat Swallow and set up camp for a few days. They soon realise this has been the territory of two other girls who sail the Amazon, and the scene is set for serious rivalry. Written by Jeremy Perkins {jwp@aber.ac.uk}

No, no, all my books were done purely in my spare time, and the dialogue was nothing to poke a stick at. Some of the stuff I've written was actually pretty bad lol. I wanted to write a novelization on of Silly's life (and death ), but I never got around to it. However an animated series on adult swim about Silly's wacky adventures would be awesome. Gee, I'm getting a little ahead of myself there . I feel like my horde of oddball characters are simply too bizarre to appeal to any kind of audience but time will tell.
But in the meantime, Puties will appear as a "show within a show" in my upcoming Sims 2 series called "Our Nana". I don't know when (or if) it'll be released as it's too early to tell, but I'm hoping I can have the first batch of episodes done by late 2007 - early 2008.
