I thought this was very true...

When things in your lives seem almost too much to handle, when 24 hours in a day are not enough, remember the mayonnaise jar and the 2 cups of coffee.

A professor stood before his philosophy class and had some items in front of him.

When the class began, he wordlessly picked up a very large and empty mayonnaise jar and proceeded to fill it with golf balls. He then asked the students if the jar was full.

They agreed that it was.

The professor then picked up a box of pebbles and poured them into the jar.

He shook the jar lightly. The pebbles rolled into the open areas between the golf balls. He then asked the students again if the jar was full. They agreed it was.

The professor next picked up a box of sand and poured it into the jar.

Of course, the sand filled up everything else. He asked once more if the jar was full.

The students responded with an unanimous "yes."

The professor then produced two cups of coffee from under the table and poured the entire contents into the jar effectively filling the empty space between the sand.

The students laughed.

"Now," said the professor as the laughter subsided,

"I want you to recognize that this jar represents your life.

The golf balls are the important things--your family, your children, your health, your friends and your favorite passions--    and if everything else was lost and only they remained, your life would still be full.

The pebbles are the other things that matter like your job, your house and your car.

The sand is everything else--the small stuff. "If you put the sand into the jar first," he continued, "there is no room for the pebbles or the golf balls. The same goes for life.

If you spend all your time and energy on the small stuff you will never have room for the things that are important to you.

"Pay attention to the things that are critical to your happiness. Play with your children. Take time to get medical checkups. Take your spouse out to dinner. Play another 18. There will always be time to clean the house and fix the disposal.

Take care of the golf balls first--the things that really matter.  Set your priorities.

The rest is just sand."

One of the students raised her hand and inquired what the coffee represented.

The professor smiled. "I'm glad you asked.

It just goes to show you that no matter how full your life may seem,

there's always room for a couple of cups of coffee with a friend."

Hey Norman , LOVE the new avatar with the Flexity tram

"Viva La Tram Extension" , indeed -- it's been a lonnnnnnnnnnng time comming !

Can't wait for you to be in Rate The Avatar , so 12 / 10

( Yeah , yeah , I know everyone else is going ..   ..  )

Though I do have fond memories of my first trip to Glenelg on the old H Class -- the woodwork and etched glass of the interior , the thump of the motors and speeding along the private right of way from South Terrace

Suddenly gaining height and going up and over the Goodwood Flyover like a mini rollercoaster !!

Arriving in Glenelg at Moseley Square with cafe patrons fenced off right next to the line ..... ah , what a trip

The new trams secure one of Adelaide's transport gems and give the regular riders modern , fully accessible transportaion

I don't. A girl I went to school with owned a motorcycle and lived in Melbourne when we reached our late teens, early 20's, and her front wheel caught in the tram line and caused her to collide with either a tram or a car and she was killed. I hate crossing the cane tram lines which are actually not in use anymore here on the sunny coast. On the Bli Bli Bridge the tram lines have been removed thank goodness as driving over the bridge was a hazard especially if you got a tyre caught or slipping on the tram line. Someone was killed in just that situation a few years ago here.

Actually , many tram systems throughout the world are segregated from other traffic running in median strips or with raised surfaces between the tracks and motor traffic

AND trams are cleaner for the environment , transport more people per metre of road-space used , etc , etc

PLUS , don't forget , the trams were there first , before cars

And trams run WITH the traffic flow, they're not coming towards you. Treat it like another car.

another car .. sure!

guys, i'm stuck in a bit of situation at the moment - I have to move out very soon and i'm trying to find a place of my own that will allow me to bring my dog and NOWHERE allows you to bring your dog!!

I've looked at two of the well known real estate websites for houses - realestate.com.au and domain.com.au but found nothing. I tried googling for some others but they're not even kept up-to-date!

Anyway, if any of you could help me find a website for houses in brisbane that would be brilliant.

...I just can not believe nobody allows you to bring your poor old' pooch with you - they need homes too!!
