You use a small machine called a Glucometer. You have a special gadget that pricks your skin (I alway prick the end of a thumb as it hurts less), sqeeze a drop of blood out. Then use the glucometer and a special stick that sucks a little of the blood up and the machine measures it. Today's morning reading was 5.3. After you have eaten it rises. Your blood glucose level rises and falls throughout the day (and night). You know when you haven't eaten for hours Dara and you get the shakes? That’s a hypo. Your blood glucose is too low so you should eat. Too high and a diabetic can go into a diabetic coma. I have glucose tablets in my bag at all times. I take two different medications to regulate my diabetes, it's an oral form of insulin. The next step for me will be insulin injections by the time I am 60 (7 odd more years). |

Ah, that must've been what my uncle from Germany was using while I was at Turkey. He was testing my grandmother and one of my other uncles. He offered to test me too, but I err... wasn't interested. |

My readings came down when I was in hospital; losing 20 kilos did it I think. I used to be on 2 types of pill, now only take one. |

Has anyone ever had a filling done? I have to get 2 small ones done tomorrow on my molars and I'm totally scared. They said it didn't hurt.. but who knows. Should I get the injection or not? She said I could choose. Omg how embarrassing, I've never had a filling before :O And then I have to get another done between 2 teeth.. OWW *breath* if I can do my ear operation.. this is nothing.. right?? :O But yeah.. DOES IT HURT?? Do they stick something under your toungue? Because I was gagging with the xray thing which took like 1 minute. |

Has anyone ever had a filling done? Yes…. Half my teeth have been filled mostly with the old ‘silver’ fillings which apparently have mercury in them.I have to get 2 small ones done tomorrow on my molars and I'm totally scared. They said it didn't hurt.. but who knows. Should I get the injection or not? She said I could choose. When I was young I never ever had a needle to deaden the area but now I am older the last two repairs on existing fillings I have had local anaesthetic and it’s much easier. When I was young I was terrified of needles more than the drill! Omg how embarrassing, I've never had a filling before :O Nothing to be embarrassed about! And then I have to get another done between 2 teeth.. OWW It honestly does not hurt, IMHO. Males tend to avoid the Doctor and Dentist because they are sooky-la-la’s*breath* if I can do my ear operation.. this is nothing.. right?? :O Yes, after your ear op and your recent flu with a lung infection this is nothing. But yeah.. DOES IT HURT?? Do they stick something under your toungue? Because I was gagging with the xray thing which took like 1 minute. The assistant uses a sucker to suck the water and spit out. Remember to keep your mouth open and relaxed and your tongue off to the opposite side of your mouth to where the tooth is being filled. |

Ok thanks. Well I am just a chicken totally panicking about this. I agree, about the needle sounding scarier than the filling. That's why I don't want it. Ok, good, thanks, nothing

Fillings are fine. Take the needle. I've had fillings twice now, first time it was totally fine, second time was a little bad because I got a shoddy dentist. I got like tingling when she went down into the tooth but it was only an uncomfortable tingling. |

Hint: The dentist will try and involve you in conversation during the filling inning. Refrain, avoid trying any conversation. |

Nah the needle is just like any other needle all you feel is maybe a tiny prick and after that all you feel is a numbing sensation. The numbing only lasts like a few hours so it's all good. |
