Sorry to hear of your troubles Suzi. Hope you get some good news very soon. And hope any moves ahead for you will lead to great new opportunities you can't yet see
Thank you Tasman and Candy and all of you who are sending good vibes my way I wont go where my birds aren't welcome A lot of people don't consider birds pets! That works to my advantage. Bubba the female cockatiel is out of her cage all day (just put her to bed a minute ago) and the budgies like to be out but are happy also to be locked in their big cage 24/7. The self contained unit may be gone by the time I can see it on Monday but the level of another house is still up for grabs. Best thing... I am single, mature aged,no kids, no car, no worries, no smoking, drinking or gambling. Have a lover boy I see once a week or so, never over night. In the share house right in the middle of Buderim, I would share a bathroom, loungeroom/living area and a full kitchen with a man. I would have my own bedroom with a TV outlet in it. He has a bar fridge so my big 410 litre fridge would fit also. He is in his 50's. The lady, Heidi, owns the two level home and shares the 2nd level with her 26 yr old son who almost died in a car accident and now has a brain injury. He is slow when he talks (he and I talked on the phone first) but does TAFE and is pretty good function wise. We'll see. I shared with my daughter for 5 weeks last year and she had an old bloke sharing also. He was 70+. Our bedrooms were downstairs and the big bathroom, sep loo and office. He also has a decked covered area and a loungeroom. My daughter had upstairs lounge/living, big balcony, main bedroom with ensuite and walk in robe plus the large shared kitchen. I managed that ok and was quite comfortable. He was a pain but was out most days and had a girlfriend who lived a suburb away I kept the budgies in the large well ventilated and lit laundry, door into the rest of the house closed because of my daughter's cats. My daughter now lives in a very old, badly ventilated 'unit' which is half of the 1st level of a timber house with sloping floors that is over 100 years old It's on an acre of land in the heart of Buderim. There is another unit on the other half of that level. Underneath the big queenslander is an office and chicken hatchery and separate to that is another unit/flat where a single man my age lives. The grounds are massive. One huge mother of an avacado tree, a huge vegie garden and many many hibiscus, other trees and heaps of fruit trees including banana plants. The cats love it I will find my new home soon, I know I will. I have 4 and a half weeks, I have started culling my crap
Wonder how Dara's Year 12 Formal is going? I am excited for her. She has grown up in front of our eyes. I am like a proud mother hen!
Once again..you are sounding very brave Suzi....living with strangers is not 'my cup of tea'. I have trouble sometimes coping with living with my husband! (now my kids have left home.) I would be happy to live alone (with my pets). Visitors are welcome but short time only. I like my own space too much.
GOODBYE fellow eBlah's .....it sure has been nice meeting yo'all here and I will miss everyone of you
I wouldn't mind sharing a place that had separate living areas but a nice young man (in his 30's) and I spoke today and he owns his own new home, is divorced, has a house mate who is divorced, has fish, a large 4 bedroom home, $140 per week BUT will negotiate with me if I cook meals for him and do the washing. I love doing both of those things. He is a builder. He is coming round between 3 and 4 to pick me up to have a look at his place. He can clean! We'll see!

That sounds good as long as you know you couldn't be randomly kicked out one day.

Thanks!! It was fun, the limo was the best bit, we were waving out the window and cheering the whole way ;P We just ate/danced/took a LOT of photos all night Then the after party with the whole grade at someones house, so crowded but fun. So tired now though, bleh.
Yep, Dara… you don’t have to drink to know what a hang over is, believe me! Dancing, having fun and not getting much, if any sleep. Bleaugh! It’s the same as here Dara. The Government guy yesterday said…. Some real estates and landlords think their renters/tenants are only one step up from Homelessness! It’s true. Our units/flats are only one step up from a slum, in fact they were down for demolition before my landlord-real estate bought them. They have asbestos in the ceilings and roof! Anyhoo, waiting on the guy to pick me up, I am a wreck. High on adrenaline and nervous all day. My lover boy said the place I am meant to see on Monday is in a most beautiful area near the Buderim Forest. The place today is in a newer less established area but Woollies and other things nearby.
Hey SuziH, if you can't get anything what about you and the boy friend moving in togeather ? that would always be an option I guess
Are you serious? Never never never will I live with a man that I am in a relationship with, ever again. I have been married twice which took 25 years out of my life (combined) and I will never ever share with my lover boy. He and I have discussed it in depth and it's like 'if it ain't broke... why fix it!' He lives with and cares for his elderly parents and I am set in my ways. He has never even slept over! He spent 8 hours with me one Sunday and I'm like... time to go, go home now... it's been long enough.....!
The 30 something year old guy today picked me up & took me to his 2 year old lovely home. He was sweaty and smelly when he picked me up and his house (he has a male housemate) smelled like men. Honestly, he wanted someone who is neat and clean in the house and not a 'grub' as he put it. Now I'm no great shakes as a housekeeper (IMO) but he was shocking! Packed wall to wall with furniture (beautiful at that), bedroom would be lucky to fit my queen bed in it. Very heavy solid timber and leather furniture. Anyhow, I know what to look for plus this house was in a cul-de-sac within 2 other cul-de-sacs kinda thing, in a hollow, way down the mountain. No good for someone with no transport, a good 2km to a main arterial road. The one I am lined up to look at on Monday should be better. I'll get a feel for checking them out at least.
Sorry to hear about your housing woes, SuziH. (I've been reading your posts the whole time, but I didn't feel that I had anything particularly worthwhile to add to the discussion )
Good luck with it all. Have you ever lived with complete strangers before?

Thanks Silly! No I haven't. Hopefully the little self contained apartment isn't gone tomorrow, or the first level of the pole home gone either. I would insist on a locked bedroom (I have the key lock door knobs from my old place). Need a key to get in the room but just turn the knob to get out I got them installed on my bedroom doors (2) when I ended my second marriage but he lived with us for a further 18 months . He had the 3rd bedroom. I got the locks put on so I could relax and know that in one of his drunken stupor's he would not try anything! I could not live at such close quarters with the 2 guys from yesterday Yick! My sister (the only one I speak to) text-ed me yesterday after we talked about my sharing accommodation. She sent me a message like I am a child, saying, 'be careful what you say and do as you will not have the privatesie (?) you are used to'. Gee like this year in this block of flats hasn't taught me a valuable lesson on holding my cards close to my chest... D-UR! Not talking to her for a while as I will only get cranky. She is 9 years older than me. Why is it mothers and sometimes fathers and siblings see you as a 10 year old for your entire life span? Grrrr The only stranger I ever lived with was the old guy from the 5 weeks living with my daughter. Strange is the operative word. She lived with him for 12 months and could not stand him. He was/is an idiot. I put up with him but was ready to commit murder by the end of 5 weeks. The house was huge so you could get away from people if you wanted to. We largely ignored the old guy.
[b]...... I rang the Government Housing for Qld where I have had my name down for verging on 7 years and they informed me that impending homelessness is not dire enough… they have NO Places vacant. I may NEVER get Govt. Housing because I would not be deemed as needy as other’s! OMG what does it take?....
Maybe you need to get pregnant ....obviously you are the wrong colour
I don't know...where does our taxes go if not in providing affordable housing.
GOODBYE fellow eBlah's .....it sure has been nice meeting yo'all here and I will miss everyone of you
The people across the road have a government house. Brings down the value of all the surrounding houses. Like every house is a big brick 2 story, and this is a shabby 1 story lol. Our neighbours want to buy the house because the last 2 tenants had the police in for things, one lot had a huge stake out of their house
That true...but many others do look after their homes. I watched a program once on a group who built their own houses and a gvt scheme provided the money, support and education on trades (which some used later to help others build)...they still paid rent but got their own place to live and pride in doing the job.
