Travel and enjoy life while you are young coz you are a long time a 'grown up' and if you settle down, maybe married, maybe children.... other things like travel, get put on hold and end up either happening when you are not young and fit anymore or not happening at all I settled, had kids and did not consider what I could be doing before all that. What are you planning of doing at Uni. Dara?

To some of you that I tried a few baby names out on, I thought you may like to know that we had a boy last Friday. I ended up disregarding all the names I asked you and ended up calling him "Hayden". He is absolutely gorgeous but I'm biased . He has blonde hair and I think there may be a slight hint of my wifes red hair. Apart from that he looks exactly like me.

It was pretty scary though. My wife had preeclampsia and we had to have an emergency cesarean. She still has super high blood pressure but hopefully it will get better over the coming weeks. Because she cant do anything I have had to pretty much do everything. Dirty nappies and tending to him in the middle of the night in the maternity ward. This is all very alien to me but I am getting the hang of things. I am pretty good at wrapping him now for sleep. The first time I bathed him and wrapped him it all fell off on the floor. The midwife told me to be more confident when handling him at the start, as I was treating him like fine china.

I'm sooo tired. but it is the best thing that has ever happened to me.Anyhow I am going to squeeze in a nap. Chat to you all soon.

Aha that would be cool, I might travel after I finish uni though, not sure. I want to go to Europe but it's pretty expensive.

Dara,

as a mad traveller I would say "you go girl" I have been to 30 countries now and still counting, I try to go OS at lease once every 2 years and in OZ on the other, but this dosnt always happen (cost) . I would suggest that if you have a good friend maybe the 2 of you should look at working in London, you will treasure this time for many years.

And Matt you to

Just a thought

good luck

Congrats that's really awesome Glad to hear everyone's ok, I remember Kate off BB07 had that and her baby died. You should post pictures once you're all out of hospital etc

Trekking in Nepal, diving in the Maldives, doing a tour in Denmark and Norway, going to the Commonwealth games in Manchester 2002, just some of the highlights, I have done the back packer thing living on $10 per day, and I have stayed 5 . now days that Im a little older I do prefer the 5.
But Dara you dont need to do it all at once, take small bites out of the world,
and yes money is the issue for me as well, I do a lot of over time where I can.

As kids we never had that much money so I never had family holidays as  we couldn't afford it so when I started work I saved and made up for lost time,

Ive even been to New Zealand   love it
keep the dream alive Dara
and if you want it enough you will find a way, but nothing is for nothing, hard work and saving money is the only way (do I sound like your parents ?)

Nope you don't sound like my parents My dad is like, telling me how he took a gap year and worked 6am-6pm, I said I'm not doing that, he just lectures, "this is the real world, get used to it" etc. I ask a question, it turns into a lecture

that sounds cool, Scandinavia in particular.

I received a real shock today. My current Lease ends on the 17th September and my Landlord who is also my Rental Agency have given me notice to leave. I have written a letter of appeal, for another 12 month lease because I am not in a position to move at this time. It takes around $1500 to move from start to finish. Anyone got a spare few hundred? I will have to have a monster garage sale to move also!
I was a wreck for a few hours after receiving the letter in the mail. I spoke first to my daughter (and wept) my lover boy (and wept) my surrogate daughter (yep, and wept) then my Mum (and made sure I didn’t cry and upset her)! I rang the Government Housing for Qld where I have had my name down for verging on 7 years and they informed me that impending homelessness is not dire enough… they have NO Places vacant. I may NEVER get Govt. Housing because I would not be deemed as needy as other’s! OMG what does it take?
Rentals are as rare as hen’s teeth. My friend took 4 months to find something appropriate for 3 adults and 1 child. Last year I took 5 weeks to find this place. My daughter, who I lived with for 5 weeks last year, has moved into much a smaller place and has no spareroom for me.
Then a local hospital rang to confirm an appointment at the hospital next Monday at 8am. What the? They sent a letter at the end of July and because I didn’t call to confirm they thought they best follow up. So… letter went missing. I knew my mail was being tampered with! 8am… considering it’s an almost 30 minute drive (not in peak hour traffic), and I don’t have transport. She gave me the next available appointment for that day… 9am! My daughter has just got back to me and can take me to the appointment and bring me home. I will keep some of the Chinese stationary for you Dara!
Just as an icing on the cake kind of thing.... Last week at the optometrist I learned my right optic nerve is degenerating, this week I had a 'field test' and it is the second time my left eye has come back with a less than clean bill of health. So off to an Opthalmologist I go after I ring and make an appointment.
I have my fingers, toes, arms, legs (not my eyes) all crossed, that out of the other side of this crap, my life will be rosier and happier than ever.

I have run the complete gamut of emotions and thoughts. Oh, it is the end of my 12 month lease, I had a 6 month lease before that so 18 months all up, here. The Letter has 'Without grounds' stamped on it meaning they do not give a reason or have to give one because it is the end of my lease. Check out the problems I have had this year at this address.
http://www.ebroadcast.com.au/eblah/m-1129205877/s-105/ then posts 107, 114, 115, 119, 128, 129, 131, 131, 133, 139.

There is no way I can afford a place by myself so I am seriously looking at share accomodation in big houses up at Buderim. Rang 2 ladies today. One is in an absolutely ideal possie and the other is completely self contained but in an out of the way cul-de-sac. Both are in cul-de-sacs actually. I am just going to have to swallow my pride and independence and be sensible. It is because of my b astard of a neighbour, I believe, that the RE will not renew my lease. I emailed the RE by this time yesterday and have not received a reply putting forward a plea to stay for another 12 months but..... ***shrugs***

Yes I was following your posts back then about your troubles/neighbours...
Might be nice in Buderim..
In a British Airways Survey, Buderim was named 3rd after Paris & Aspen as the most desirable place to live in the world.
Hope you can take your pets with you....
