The good thing about google books is that if you are required to use books as sources you can still do it on the internet!!

Now.. does anyone know of any ancient historians that wrote on Akhenaten? I actually can't find any :Z

Dont know if this helps.

I sourced this list from http://www.answers.com/topic/akhenaton

Books

Aldred, Cyril, Akhenaten King of Egypt, Thames and Hudson Ltd., London, 1988.

Asimov, Isaac, The Egyptians, Houghton Mifflin Co., Boston, 1967.

Assmann, Jan, The Mind of Egypt: History and Meaning in the Time of the Pharaohs, Metropolitan Books, New York, 1996.

Johnson, Paul, The Civilization of Ancient Egypt, Harper Collins, 1998.

Silverman, David P. ed., Ancient Egypt, Oxford University Press, Oxford, 1997.

Online

"Akhenaten," Egyptology Online, http://www.egyptologyonline.com/Akhenaten1.htm (January 4, 2005).

"Akhenaten and the Amarna Period," The BBC Online, http://www.bbc/co.uk/history/ancient/Egyptians/Akhenaten - print.html (January 5, 2005).

I kind of meant like.. You know how for example Suetonius and Tacitus wrote about the Julio-Claudians and stuff? Like that, like more primary sources.

It is one of the most interesting periods of the romans. Reading the history of the Julio-Claudian dynasty reads like an ancient version of days of our lives. Tyrannical, mad, sexually perverse and murderous. I guess things haven't changed much. Sounds like every day on Big Brother.

The Romans shaped a lot of what we are today. It sounded really boring to me in school. But that was because I was an idiot more interested in what I was going to do on the weekend (drink) than get an education.  **Sigh**

Thank goodness people like you stick around and become smart to support us regular bums.

it is a pity the Romans were drinking through lead pipes.  Who knows what advancements in civilization have gone undeveloped through lead poisoning.  Nero was barking mad and now we know why!

There were several mad one's Dara, Caligula was a deviant and practised bestiality among other things.
Nero was also mad most likely from a brain damaged by syphilis or the like. They were all promiscuous and mostly bi-sexual in those times so..... crazy was pretty normal

I’ve been doing backpacking and working OS kiwi.

I have noticed a change here though.  When I left there would be a dozen or more people online going hell for leather nearly every night, but now it’s very sedate.  What’s happened?

Oh cool!

I'm not sure it's been quiet here for ages, I think I wasn't a member when you were here last time, but no one is on at the same time much, but I'm always on lol.

Sometimes lately with it so quiet in here I feel like I am posting for my own entertainment! Dara and I have discussed how quiet it is and Morgan Pym sent me an email so we can discuss Real Crime and all that entails. I have yet to reply to him. I am certainly not any busier. It’s just sad when I come on here and the last post was mine from the day before.    It’s just a handful of us and we have to stick with it.   We don’t want this forum, eBlah Mark II to go the way of eBlah Mark I!
