A tragedy happened this morning when I poured the hot water into my BIG mug to make my morning cuppa. It cracked from top to almost bottom.   I bought it from one of those cheap shops for $2 a few years ago and have enjoyed using it ever since. It is/was 19cm high so when I say BIG I really mean it. You can see the hairline fracture if you look closely to the left of the mug. If you look at the ear on the left of pic the thin crack goes down to his lower tummy.
I am now using a small one that is only 12cm high.

Haha nice cup Try gluing it? That's what my dad did to our teapot
Lucky the boiling water didn't burn you at least, so really it's a good thing It could have happened in a worse position.

I feel your pain Suzi.  I have a favorite big coffee cup too.  I had 2 previous favorite big coffee cups before it too.  The previous 2 were really thin ceramic and shaped with fine artwork on them.  They were exactly the same.  The first one broke when we moved.  I took all kinds of precations with the cup more than any other thing we had, got it from our old place to this one, then after it was out of the box and sitting on the table I barely bumped it just enough to fall over sideways and break.  My wife got me an identical one and I used it for a long time but it looks like the paint actually wore down from the spoon stirring it over time.  Now I have one the same shape as yours only it doesn't have a design, just sort of a monochrome paint pattern like they took various shades from white gray and black and just let it do whatever.
It's funny how a coffee cup can become a sentimental item.  Also, drinking strong coffee out of a smaller cup sucks when you're used to enjoying a big one over a longer period of time.

I only drink tea.   Coffee is for when I can go to a place that sells yummo coffee as my treat. The mug is in the bin now. I am not one for gluing things especially when it only cost $2. My teapot is stainless steel! I made myself a beautiful chicken and vegetable chunky soup from scratch for dinner tonight. I used chicken drumsticks but shredded the chicken and removed all bones etc. Imagine my surprise when I found something bony and hard while eating my soup. The joys of being over a certain age is that teeth crack, break and fall out at the most inopportune moments. Eye tooth upper left, a big chunk has broken off! Whaaaaaaaa!   Now it has sharp edges and I have to get into the Govt. Dentist tomorrow without fail. Without a car I have to get there and back. I am very unhappy with this turn of events… They say these things happen in three’s.   Woke up with a pulled shoulder muscle this morning, then the cracked mug now the cracked tooth. Suzi does not like Monday the 16th June!

I am not superstitious but today sucked like a black Friday! At least my tooth is NOT aching or giving me any pain. Will have to be careful when I clean my teeth. I empathise with you both. I knew you were not at school Dara because of the times you were posting Having the medical probs I do, I have a flu shot every year in March without fail. Plus I am not exposed to a wide variety of people so there is less chance of my catching something.

We did some good stuff around reconciliation, they heard about it and said they'd like to visit the school, which they did today.

Aagh! IPT was a nightmare. I was SHOCKED that I managed to bluff my way to a 70 in my HSC exam (which I did back in year 11 ).
