On Saturday my Son's chinese wife had a shopping spree! In amongst what she bought was the new Nintendo Wii's 'Wii Fit'. She bought it for around $120. in Perth somewhere and they had a ball with it when they got it home.

Wii Fit Nintendo Classification: G RRP: $150 (with balance board) Rating: 3.5 out of 5
Gym junkies might not need the extra motivation but for the rest of us Nintendo has achieved the impossible - it has made daily exercise fun.
Wii Fit comes with a (very solid) balance board that users stand on while performing exercises and playing simple games.
Essentially, the board is made up of two sets of bathroom scales moulded together to communicate wirelessly with the Wii console. It is so sensitive that it can measure minute changes in your centre of gravity.
After registering a character to your profile, Wii Fit calculates your body mass index by asking your age and height, and then weighing you.
You can also complete various tests to receive a "Wii fit age", although this can vary wildly between sessions and isn't to be taken too seriously.
Activities are divided into four categories: yoga, muscle workouts, aerobic exercises and balance games, with results recorded so you can chart your progress.
There are 15 yoga poses to perform, designed to tone muscles and improve posture. Beginners are catered for. Your on-screen personal trainer provides easy-to-follow directions and constant encouragement. Scores seem to awarded for steadiness, and while perhaps arbitrary, provide a reasonable indication of proficiency.
Muscle workouts are the more gruelling exercises - and just like a personal trainer at the gym might demand, including leg extensions, squats and press-ups. Aerobic exercises such as jogging, spinning imaginary hula hoops and dancing are more enjoyable, thanks to the personalised Mii characters urging you on.
Nine balance games will get you heading soccer balls, skiing a slalom, tightrope-walking and swaying to tilt balls into holes. While unlikely to hold your interest for long, these games are fun, more so with a crowd, and whet the appetite for the other snowboarding, skateboarding and puzzle-based games from Wii.
Wii Fit is an expensive novelty for those chasing a giggle but an enjoyable personal trainer for those prepared to put in the hard yakka.
My son said his wife wants to get back down to 45kg and lose a couple of kilo He also needs to lose a few KG. They both took turns and competed with each other and he even worked up a sweat, something he has not done, even with hard work, in the past 12-18 months.

I really want to try wii fit. We have wii sports and brain training. Wii sports gives a fitness age as well, and you get tennis, soccer, golf, boxing and baseball, oh and bowling. It does actually make you sore lol! I'd kind of rather play a real sport though, but it's fun
just jumping in really late suzi.. but ur son! wow!... you know... i'm 22 lol
I didn't know wisdom teeth can come through at 23... I felt mine getting funny last month and got scared they would crowd my mouth ... :s They still haven't come through but there is a bit of room at the back for them when... they do I guess. Oh, I just thought if they hadn't come through yet - they wouldn't!

oh suzi.. tell me your son - the 23 year old isn't ur married son??
Yes Punkin', that would be the one as I only have Kat 31 from 1st marriage and my only son, Michael from my second marriage He IS gorgeous and loves to pose for the camera. They (he and his wife) got married October 2006. She is Chinese and tiny also she is 6 years older than him. Go to http://www.kindgalaxy.com/ to read his review of Wii Fit on his website/blog. I have not seen him in person since the end of November 2006 when they went to Perth to live (up the road from LB). For Mother's Day he sent me a video clip of himself wishing me Happy Mother's Day. I cried he is a wonderful young man who I am very proud of. He told me several times, maybe even 5, in the clip, that he loves me and always when we speak on the phone (he rings at least once a week) we tell each other we love them.
I want to get my hands on a Wii, but the fact that it's so much more expensive here than it is overseas is really off-putting.
Here, the average game retails for around $80-$100, but in the US, you'll rarely find a game which costs more than $53 (in AUD mind you ). I'd spend so much more money on games if only they were reasonably cheaper.
My son is waiting until he and his wife go to Hong Kong in October and will buy games he wants but can wait for, then. My son has been gaming for 14-15 years. Don't want to even think about the costs involved over those years He is giving me his old Nintendo DS and some games
Ooo. A couple of days ago, my mum bought me a DS Lite, but only because she wanted me to give my old DS to my little brother. (I had the original, slightly bulkier grey model which I refer to fondly as my DS Classic)
I'm already annoyed with the DS Lite because it's so new and precious. Plus I'm not used to how some of the buttons have been rearranged, and the new keypad really irritates me as I have to press on the buttons extra hard if I want to walk diagonally (when I walk diagonally, I find myself randomly walking in a straight direction again, it REALLY annoys me. I never had this problem with the old DS ).
I'm hoping that *maybe* I can pick up some cheap games duty-free when I go overseas in about a month... oops I probably shouldn't've said that.
Mine (when he sends it) may be a lite as well, a classic one as you say Silly, where are you off to OS? There are some countries I would love to visit that are not on the normal 'must see' lists. Mongolia, Turkey, Greece, parts of Vietnam, parts of Persia/Iran. Maybe in my next lifetime. I would even love to go to Hong kong with my Son and DILaw but don't think my health and fitness would allow it That MUST be why I love travel docos and shows I am an arm chair traveller
