I love Blah Blah Cafe, we can discuss anything!
My son at 23 has just gotten his wisdom teeth through, it took a few years for them to appear though. He went through a lot of pain getting them but his mouth is not crowded and he has beautiful teeth. Straight and perfect No cavities or fillings.

Yes, Dara, you can vent in here with us anytime. Family are often too close to the situation to be able to see clearly/objectively.

... my wisdom teeth are coming through now, mind you they are still buried under the gums, but they've been hurting really bad for the past couple of weeks... I don't blame babies for crying when their teeth come through!

If the pain is too bad Matt go to a chemist and buy SM-33 (an adult gel for this kind of pain) and apply it to the gum, massaging it in with your finger. Alternatively you can buy Bonjela which is the same but not as strong. I swear by SM-33 for tooth/gum/mouth problems Teething hurts. I was 15 years old when I began to get my wisdom teeth and all my boyfriend said was... gee you've got bad breath, a not so nice side affect of teething.   He now has tooth and gum disease and has to attend his teeth around 6 times per day to keep them

Oh also Matt, if they can't break through the gum they will need attending to by a dentist who will determine what needs to be done. There is a thing called impacted wisdom teeth. Here are a few links to dental health sites in Oz discussing wisdom teeth.

lol.  Way to go scaring him.  Now that I think of it though, having them removed is a pretty scary thing to me.  Mine were fine.  Even breaking through the gums wasn't that bad.

Oh god that is scary. None of mine have come through. I can't get the retainer/wire that's glued to the back of my front teeth off until they do. But I don't want them to it sounds painful lol.

It's not THAT scary. Kat had braces and she got her wisdom teeth no worries, there's always going to be some discomfort because after all you are teething. I got mine no worries, most of my family got theirs without any trouble except for one nephew who had his extracted under general anaesthetic because they wouldn't come through. It was before he got braces on at age 20+ (he paid for it himself). Remember the SM-33 gel.

I hope you don't kill the lizards/geckos that come inside Dara but if you can get a jar/glass and herd them into it, cover the top of jar/glass with a book or something (I'd use my hand) and take the lizard/gecko outside and put them in the garden where there's lots of cover. Recently I decided after RSPCA that I would watch The Real Seachange. The woman was cleaning up the new venture when she saw a reasonably small (by my standards) huntsman spider. She screamed, hubby came to rescue with a can of fly spray or whatever, drowned the poor thing killing it! I switched over to another channel after swearing at the idiots. Spiders = bug eaters. My mother was terrified of spiders, I learned to rescue her and them. A broom or even a feather/fluffy duster will do the trick with spiders, get them onto the end bit and cart them outside. Leave the entire rescue equipment outside with it on it if you are not brave enough to get them off yourself. I don't even have aerosol spray that kills anything in my home because it could kill my birds if I sprayed it.

Oh no I actually just leave the geckos there lol, I don't mind them much

With spiders though, unless they are daddy long legs.. they can be poisonous, so we kind of kill them depending on the type :S
The people on real seachange are such bogans, I might add, but I watch it anyway

There's a risk of part of your face being paralyzed when you have wisdom teeth removed.

Hahahahahah! at the above two posts, well put Dara I will not go under General anaesthetic because I am over weight. Over weight people increase their chances of dying under general by heaps. I need a major repair job on my body and after the Doc. and I discussed it I dreamed that I died under general. I told him next time I saw him.... no general for me.

What happens Dara if your Wisdom teeth do not ever come up?
