You have Lawnbowler to blame for that. He's always overshadowing us hipsters.

Silly, I really hope that you mean that in a friendly, joking manner. LB has been a longtime contributer to these forums, even before becoming a mod. His posts are most welcome by members and admin alike. |

wow.. dara 3rd place!!
alright so, with summer just around the corner and the days heating up so much I went and bought one of those backyard family pools .. that will probably break in the next month!
BUT .. its hot and we've gone and done it. We bought a cover, tarp for under, chemicals to keep the water clean (it also had a pump) and we're putting it in our second entertaining area which is fully fenced on its own. HOWEVER, I have no clue what water restrictions apply to me - can I even fill the thing up for the first time without getting into trouble? ... do I need to tell somebody I bought an 300x75cm pool... I don't know.. it's not really that big of a deal but still...
I looked all over the net and found nothing with any help on water restrictions or anything.. all I got was that it had to be fenced and I could be spot checked whenever they choose to do so... :s

You could make a call to your council and ask, without revealing exactly where you live or who you are. Just ask general questions but I do know you should have a cover to prevent evaporation (good girl you have one) and use the pump and salt/chemicals as directed and check the water ph levels regularly so you can keep on top of the optimum health of the water. That water should last for a long long time, until you decide to empty the pool and move on even. I would love to have the convenience of a pool Thanks Sillygostly for clearing that up. Sometimes we are more sensitive to other's actions due to the circumstances of the day. BTW Silly, LOVE the avatar and the 'yikesies', heheheh, made me laugh!!! |

From Brisbane City Council website ( http://www.brisbane.qld.gov.au/BCC:bASE:1990855850:pc=PC_2162 ) :
New pools and outdoor spas (including renovations) You can only fill new swimming pools and outdoor spas with water supplies from councils and shires not in level five water restrictions.
Level five water restrictions apply to the following:
councils - Brisbane, Gold Coast, Ipswich, Logan, Redcliffe shires - Beaudesert, Caboolture, Esk, Gatton, Kilcoy, Laidley, Pine Rivers
If you live in one of the above councils or shires, from 10 April 2007, you cannot use town water for:
filling or partial filling of new swimming pools or new spas (including for construction purposes)
filling or partial filling of a renovated swimming pool or spa (including for construction purposes)
Except when:
you have a written contract to carry out the construction or renovation dated before 10 April 2007 you have written approval from Council
So sounds like the answer is no , if using mains water |

A pool 3 metres in diameter by .75 metres deep will hold approx 5300 litres of water |

The slackness of Brisbane Council, lurveit, I would say you wont have a problem. Try really hard though to conserve water for the rest of the year before the meters are read and cross your fingers that council doesn't check your meter in the meantime |
