Should John Howard resign as leader of the Liberal Party and hand over to the young bucks Turnbull or Costello?

I think Malcolm Turnbull would make a better Prime Minister than Costello and would bring in a fresh approach to Australian politics and international relations.

No  - The Liberal party should toss him out - the only way they will ever regain credibility as a middle of the road party.

Not much of a change to my mind ... although if he did at least I'd be spared any more vision of little john power walking in his wallabies shirt...so yeah he should resign...and be replaced by a medium-sized pot plant

Cheers, BSquared

YES! He is just hanging around to make himself richer and screw everyone else. He will then retire and live off the taxpayer for the rest of his life.

He is the biggest liar, and suckers just keep on voting him in.

What children overboard?? We wont be worse off under a GST! Bull! Petrol prices haven't gone up, they are just fluctuations. Crap! Petrol prices wont affect the cost of food and other goods. Get out from under your rock you old fool! Lets vote ourselves a payrise, after all, we have a majority! We can vote in whatever we want. Lets spend $1m a day on advertising the changes to industrial relations. Why? It hasn't even been voted in yet, but already they have spent tens of millions of OUR money advertising it. Why change it? It aint broke.

Howard is a liar AND a thief. He is the weakest link. The tribe has spoken. It's time to go ..........Little Johnny the weasel! and take Costello with you.

Pity the voters have such short memories.

it's not that I disagree with you phanotm

and it's not that I don't admire your passion

it's just that I don't see what difference there will be if he does resign...either abbott or costello will take over (more lying) or big kim will somehow end up in the lodge (more lying)

I've worked for politicians for 19 years and I've met one in all that time who was a genuine person incapable of lying ... he quit after 1 term in parliament because he couldn't reconcile the need for lying that his job demanded

Cheers, BSquared

Good to see you keep your perspective Phantom. .

I think he should 'come out from behind the eyebrows' . . *wonders if Howard knows how to Google his name and find this* . . just thinking of new Anti Terror Laws . . and my acute allergic reaction to molten lead!!!. .

I met him once ... I was surprised by two things

he is taller than I expected (not really "little" john at all)

the eyebrows were more bushy and pronounced than I expected

I was not surprised by the fact he talked a lot about nothing and made me want to scrub my hands with industrial solvent after shaking hands with him

I like the American system where the Leader can serve only two terms.  Politicians in a position of power loose touch with the real world, and tend to become complacent and sometimes corrupt when they are there too long.
