I really love this show. I think that the characters are lovable and also a little mysterious. They can sometimes do unexpected things.
I don't watch hospital dramas and it all seems new and fresh to me. The humour appeals to me and the storylines believable. (except where Dr Dreamy's missus tells that she slept with his best friend ... what WERE they thinking with that storyline)

I quite like grey's anatomy.
Not as good as house but still good.

Last night's episode was not the best. But I think next weeks will be really good.

I don't think it is rating well because it's always on again as an encore.

Well it certainly beats the crap out of 'the Surgeon' - I seriously don't want to know which drunk moron created that crap... The surgeon is just a weak watered down version of Greys Anatomy. Here's hoping that Ten take 'the Surgeon' off the air - VERY SOON.

So its reached end of season ? it was only episode 16 of a 24 episode run !

And lucky lucky us ! channel seven is repeating the entire first 16 episodes - sorry, not a repeat, a *encore* We should all sing wise and benevolent sevens praises.

Its really insulting the way the commercial networks screw us around this way.

Actually it is 7 eps into its 2nd season of a 15 episode run.
The first season was only 9 eps, and finished where they all had syphiliis, and Addison arrived on the scene. But I do see your point, they should've either stopped it at the season 1 finale or just continued with it right through.

Nine had done exactly the same thing with The Closer stopping on ep 9 of a 13 ep run.

Yeah I don't think the networks realize we have access to the net and episode guides.

Ten years ago we would have been none the wiser.

"sighs" It's not fair,  they also said that is was the finale of Without  A Trace when it wasn't...in the finale Viv has open heart surgery, i still think there's about 4 more eps before the REAL finale.  If they are running out of time to air their programs before the season ratings are finished then stop showing damn repeats in between new episodes and wasting time.

Actually the first 7 episodes of "season two" are part of season one, so infact, seven showed the entire first season. Season two begins with episode 8 of season two with respect to the way the ABC is airing it and has a new opening sequence.

Are you joking? That's the most stupid thing I've ever heard. Seven's bringing back a show which constantly got 1.5 million viewers last year into a timeslot that's not going to do it justice.

I wonder what will happen to Commander in Chief. I seriously hope Seven reconsider the timeslot, but then again I wouldn't mind watching DH and Greys anatomy in the same night.

Deserving of a thread, with its starting of season two

Still think she looks like a duck, with those humongous collegen enhanced lips

Maybe Calista Flockhart could play a cousin in a future episode?

Meredith or what ever her name is, behaved the worst I have seen on Punk'd

Monday's going to be great with both Desperate Housewives and Grey's Anatomy, but I am much more excited about the season premiere of 24 on Wednesday

Looking forward to this season of Grey's Anatomy though. I didn't watch every episode last season but it's a great show so we'll see if Season 2 is even better than the first soon.

I've yet to see one Desperate Housewives advertisement for Monday...all of Seven's ads for Monday have gone to Grey's Anatomy.

You'd think it'd be smarter to advertise Desperate Housewives more since Greys Anatomy will get a good lead in from it anyways.

Slightly disappointing first episode I thought, they could have done much more... but I did love the date Christina & Burke went on, those two are great together!  Particularly loved her comment on how it's the best date she's ever been on, after getting to crack the guys chest open!

I love love love this show!!

can't get enough of it .. was looking forward to it last night and it didn't fail to deliver - LOVED IT!

How sad was the dad waking up ... bastard family - I get the whole shock thing and them having moved on in life but he has nobody right now put aside the fact he hasnt been awake for the last 16 years and be there when he needs you!   grr got me so angry. such a selfish thing to do in the poor guys time of actual need... they ended up losing him anyway  .

and yes, the christina's only thanksgiving need being booze was hilarious! loved it!

I watched (yes Suzi stayed up late) Desperate Housewives and flicked to Supernatural when I felt the need (having already seen the Supernatural Finale) and before I knew it... there was Grey's Anatomy and I could not move. I had forgotten how damn good this show is. Loved every moment except when the 'coma' man died in surgery and I cried.
The Thanksgiving Dinner was wonderful and how the Dr. taught 'what's her name' how to cook was great. George shooting the turkey and his Dad getting buckshot in the behind was funny. George's brothers are 'simple folk'. Christina's need for booze was hilarious. The ending was good (except for the coma man's death).

Am I the only one to think last night's episode was terrific?

Loving the nicknames for Meredith's conquests...

The inclusion of the song, lotion, was brilliant.  Then it was suggested that Meredith would be rubbing the lotion on her skin or else she would get the hose again

Ok here goes.... in the very first episode of the show Meredith had picked up "McDreamy" (aka Dr Derek Shepherd) at Joe's bar (where everyone from the hospital hangs out when they're not on shift) & they had a one night stand.  Then when she showed up to begin her internship the morning after, it turned out that he was a doctor and sort of in charge of the interns.  It went on from there with them having a secret relationship until everyone at the hospital eventually found out.  At the time he was separated from his wife (Dr Addison Shepherd) because she'd slept with his best friend and so he'd left her, but then she came back & decided she wanted him back.  Meredith made him choose between them and he chose his wife and she's been pouty and miserable ever since!

I love this show too, it's definitely one I look forward to every week!   It was another great episode, very funny with some good story lines and twists throw in.  I think Cristina has to be my favourite character in it, she's hilarious!

Speaking of... did anyone catch her - Sandra Oh - at the Emmy's when it was televised here late last year?  She won the Outstanding Supporting Actress In A Drama Series (2005) Award... Her speech was great, you could tell she was SO excited just to be there, let alone win it.

The whole Derek/Meredith thing is getting tiring, just get them together already!! Burke and Cristina are cute together, they're like the exact opposites of each other. Burke in Cristina's apartment looking at all the mess and then picking up some stuff from the floor was funny.

Damn this show just keeps getting better!

This weeks episode was great.   I'm loving Cristina more & more every week as we see her open up to Burke more.  If I were OMalley I would have screamed at that woman's family to shutup much sooner than that though! How funny was Bailey with her pregnancy?? I like that she's becoming a little more human every week also.

Particularly liked when McDreamy told his wife that Meredith wasn't a fling or revenge that he still loved her!!

You obviously do not watch nip/tuck

According to a theater nurse friend, music is popularly during long operations... but not through headphones ie iPods

Umm, i didn't say during a surgery, you do realise that not all doctors are surgeons and a normal doctor working in a hospital would not have time to listen to music..... it was advertising i say

What another fantastic episode this week...

I loved the hermaphrodite storyline, very interesting, and they had George handle it rather well I thought considering he's usually a bit on the prudish/conservative side of things...  and the storyline involving Meredith's mother looks promising also.  I thought the dog thing was a little silly though

Can't wait for next week, the previews showing Cristina yelling at Shepherd about Meredith... looks very good!

Sorry to keep bumping this thread, but I just love this show it's one of my favourites!

Has anyone checked out the preview to the "Code Black" episode??? It looks fantastic and I can't wait until it airs in two weeks on 14/8/06.

In case you haven't seen it yet, go to http://www.codeblack.com.au and click on any of the floating words on screen to load up the preview.  There's also a competition to enter too...

I am liking the cheerleader surgeon... she was completely correct with the " you have no compassion " assessment

How shocking was a revelation about the baby?  She did the right thing though

Loved it!  This has to be my fave show right now, it just keeps getting better.

Some more great storylines this week, particularly with Izzy, but also with Dr Webber & Grey's mum.  Close call between Grey & Shepherd too, and loved the ending where it showed him having "crossed that line" and knowing it too.

I am hanging out for next week's special episode, Code Black... can't wait!

Haha, Alex compassionate. Yeah right The Mer/Der scene was really sweet, but I feel sorry for Addison. She's hanging around for this guy who only stayed with her because it was the "right thing to do."
Aaaanyway. I thought those Code Black ads they were showing from two or so weeks ago were for some new show coz its weird that they made a whole new site for it.

I agree, yet another fantastic episode

Although, I couldn't help but feel a little disappointed it was a "to be continued..." after it being billed as "the episode you can't miss" when actually that would be next week!  Oh well... roll on Monday please!!!

They are certainly making Christina out to have no compassion & become ever-increasingly narcissistic.

Wanting to amputate the leg of the newlywed, without trying to save it

Pushing in on the other people's patients, Izzy

Complaining when she doesn't get the best/weirdest operation, craniotomy versus unexploded device

Oh wow! 10-year-old star Abigail Breslin  will guest star in an episode of "Grey's Anatomy" this season. Breslin will appear in the episode entitled "Sometimes a Fantasy," which has not been given an airdate. Diahann Carroll and Chris O'Donnell are also scheduled to appear as guest stars in episodes this season.

This lil cutie is such a great actor! I wonder what she'll be doing?!

sooo... can not wait for 2moro nite!!

She is very cute, Lurveit. Izzy has a daughter she gave up at birth for adoption. Could this girl be her? Otherwise if she guest stars she probably will have some horrid incurable disease!
Tomorrow night....2nd part of 'Code Black' and the promos look great!

That was a disturbing episode... it's different to a normal American drama, that's for sure.

Am I the only one starting to dislike Meredith?  & MacDreamy as well...

George is certainly starting to come into his own.  Especially when he was looking at the baby crowning.

Agree with all that!  Love this show!

My only complaint is that McDreamy didn't kiss her at the end, but it was very sweet how he remembered every detail of their last kiss! <3

Absolutely loved the chief's wife's comment about how Addison was "not the she he was looking for"!

I watched it last night even though I was recording it. I burst into tears
when the device blew up and killed the yummy Dylan Young/Kyle Chandler. I knew it was going to happen but I gasped and burst into tears.
Didn't Christina Ricci look good. I thought it was a younger actress that looked like her but it WAS her! She looks younger and healthier than I have seen her in ages. How tense was it all?!   After the 'bomb' blew up last night I switched over to SVU so today when watching Grey's anatomy again I saw what happened after the thing blew up. Loved the comment by the chief's wife! Loved that Bailey named her son and included George in his title. George really shone in the last two eps. I was soooo relieved that Bailey's lovely husband survived (I was crying when they were trying to revive him).

Stewie... it wasn't really a 'bomb' as such, it was a missile shot from a very old piece of artillery. The guys were old war buffs who liked to recreate battles. The thing fired and ended up in the poor bloke but it didn't detonate. The wife was very very angry that they were brainless enough to do such a stupid stupid thing.
Regarding Meredith following the guy with the 'bomb'. She wasn't following very closely and he was within feet of being safe, plus it was a nice touch in the show to have Meredith laying unconscious with bits of burning paper falling down around her after everything that had happened that day.

Meredith made a boo-boo falling into bed with George. Friends should not bonk friends, especially when your emotions are so raw. She obviously pays the price by the look of next weeks episode!

& couldn't you just tell the tying of the fallopian tubes operation was going to come back & take a chunk from that doctor's bottom

Officially, I love this program!

It has a little bit of everything... there is no way you could have kept a dry eye last night

Even towards the end when George's surgeon girlfriend told him that he had to stick up for her & tell them that she did wash her hands

Well I have to agree, I still love this show, it just keeps getting better and better, and yes I cried my eyes out too... at Meredith and McDreamys fight, because he still loves her!   And at Izzy and her patient - wow next week looks like another tear jerker as far as that relationship is concerned too!   And George and his new woman... very sweet!   And even Alex and that tiny tiny baby......  yeah ok I think I started crying at about 20:40 and didn't stop until 21:35!

Some of the writing is bordering on brilliant...

That heartfelt plea for izzy to understand " that I am a masculine ... virile man trapped in this feeble body ..." was absolutely gutwrenching.

Grey's Anatomy co-stars Patrick Dempsey and Isaiah Washington were involved in a heated argument on the set of their hit show on Monday which nearly ended in a fist-fight. Dempsey, 40, and Washington, 43, nearly came to blows during a spat over shooting issues. Washington tells US publication People, "We were like two baseball players... nose-to-nose. We had a difference of opinions while working on set but we've resolved it." Washington, who plays Dr. Preston Burke says the fight began over "time and (keeping) the production going. The communication was lost in translation." But he says no punches were thrown adding, "Our faces are too beautiful for that!" Dempsey's representative says, "In close families arguments happen. They worked it out." Washington added jokingly, "I've never been that close to (Patrick) before. He has really pretty blue eyes."

omg... yet another Monday night crying to the television! Another awesome episode!

I must comment on the acting skills of Katherine Heigl... TOTALLY believable performance, I was crying right there along with her, she was simply outstanding last night.

And finally, Addison gets it! YAY!

I was thinking that it seemed like a finale actually last night, but I'm so glad it's not yet... must know if both Danny & Burke make it or not!!!

I am so angry at Izzie for what she did. She never factored in that something unforseen could happen, and of course it did! Grrrrrrr! Edge of the seat stuff. Excellent acting, great show.

I couldn't help it.... I'm sorry... I just had to know.....

The thing is, he has filled out a DNR order so legally they are not supposed to resuscitate him, did they both forget that or something or didn't he fill it out in the end?

Grey's Anatomy star T.R. Knight has confirmed he is gay. The actor, who plays unassuming Dr. George O'Malley on the hit series, decided to go public after rumors began surfacing about his sexuality. Knight confirms to American publication People, "I guess there have been a few questions about my sexuality, and I'd like to quiet any unnecessary rumours that may be out there. While I prefer to keep my personal life private, I hope the fact that I'm gay isn't the most interesting part of me." Media reports have suggested that Knight was forced to make an official statement after details of a fight between co-stars Isaiah Washington and Patrick Dempsey became public. According to the National Enquirer, the two got into a fight while Filming the show last week and Washington allegedly yelled to Dempsey, "I'm not your little f****t like (name deleted)." The publication said they withheld printing the actual name of the co-star Washington mentioned "because of the extreme nature of the slur."

I mentioned on 18th September about ABC is giving away one million free downloads of season's finale, Grey's Anatomy was one of give away shows. If you have an iTunes Store (USA) account and downloaded the free offer, tomorrow's episode is one of it.

Anyway, tomorrow's episode Deterioration of the Fight or Flight Response.

Still really ticked at Izzie for the stupid decision regarding Danny. Selfish and stupid. Grrrrr! I hope Burke is okay and can still be a surgeon. Christina gives me the pips at the moment as well. ***Suzi is at that special time of life that happens to women around 50 years of age, and is very intolerent of foolish people***

hopefullly channel 7 will screen it here then.

Hey did anyone else lose their tv signal right before Burke's operation was going to happen???? Cause seriously I wasn't happy. Right at that particular moment Canberra lost it's signal completely and then they didn't even go back to show it, they just went straight to the next show which was very frusterating.

Anyone want to shed some light in those last few minutes of the show please?

If you are talking about at the end where the screen just went black for about a minute or two I think it's just how the episode ended... I thought my dvd recorder had stuffed up until I spoke to someone else who'd watched it And they didn't show the usual preview to the next week's episode either which I thought was a bit odd...

If it went out earlier than that all I can really remember was that they were doing Burke's op and I think something went wrong, they checked his reflexes and none of his fingers were responding, so they decided to wake him up to see if he could move them himself, and Cristina was supposed to be there to help him focus, but then she chickened out and when Burke came to he freaked out a bit so McDreamy had to try to make him focus enough to ask him to move his fingers.... after that I can't really remember if there was much else, anyone else care to take over from here? hehe

Well I bawled my eyes out yet again....

What a fabulous finale to an awesome season!  I just LOVE this show, I'm definitely buying it.  I'm so glad I taped it so I can watch it over and over again until S3 starts!

So since Izzy quit does that mean she's leaving the show? I really hope not, she is fast becoming my new favourite character after Cristina

Oh and THANKS for the links lurveit!

I recorded Grey's Anatomy and Criminal Minds and watched them both one after the other, yesterday. I cried buckets of tears in Grey's Anatomy and then.... Criminal Minds was just as emotional and I cried more buckets. Just what I needed on a day when I was emotionally unstable from hormone fluctuations! OMG I was a basket case. Great show. I wish Derrick and Meredith would get their act together. Either finish it or get together. It's NOT fair on their partners. Can't wait for the next series.

Hey all

I'm hoping someone can help... I'm not normally a GA watcher but a girl friend of mine is out of state and she's missed last Monday's show. I want to get a copy for her but I just need to know what episode it was.

From the last few posts can I assume that it was the finale of season 2???

Thanks for your help - and I'm sure she'd say thank you too

Cheers

EDIT by Suzi: Morgan decided to add to the quote of my post which I do not find funny or ethical. I changed it back to exactly what I wrote.

People have no sense of humour around here... ethical?  That's a bit harsh!

Grey's Anatomy star Isaiah Washington has spoken out on TV for the first time after he was left disgraced following a spat on the set of the medical drama. The actor released a statement apologizing for his actions after a tirade with co-star Patrick Dempsey went public, prompting fans to fear his job was in danger - but he has yet to appear on TV to talk about the incident. Washington pulled out of a planned TV interview with Ellen DeGeneres earlier this month, but he couldn't miss out on an Oprah Winfrey set visit to Grey's Anatomy, which aired on TV in America on Friday. And when Winfrey asked him to comment on the spat, Washington opened up. He explained, "It was a combination of fatigue, pride, passion... I've been working with these beautiful men for three years now and we had an argument as brothers. It came about at a time and a place that was overwhelming for both of us and we resolved it easily. What it was not was a brawl, fisticuffs and all that stuff. I lost my cool... It was coming out of a place of trying to stay focused about the work and the one thing I understand about myself and my passion about everything I do is that the opposite of love is indifference... Out of that caring, we got ourselves into a debate that had to happen."

Grey's Anatomy star Katherine Heigl has slammed co-star Isaiah Washington for using a homophobic slur at the Golden Globes on Monday night. The actor tried to set the record straight regarding reports in October he got into a scuffle with Patrick Dempsey after Washington allegedly used a homophobic slur toward their co-star TR Knight. After a reporter questioned him on the validity of the on-set incident, Washington denied his involvement saying, "No, I did not call TR Knight a f*g**t. Never happened, never happened." Heigl told Access Hollywood reporter Shaun Robinson that she disapproved of his use of the slur when referring to the incident saying, "I'm not okay with it. I'm going to be really honest right now, he needs to just not speak in public. Period. I'm sorry, that did not need to be said. I just find it hurtful. I just feel like this is something that should be very much in house we need to deal with and it's among us and the cast and crew and among Shonda (Rimes, the show's creator) and the producers." Washington immediately tried to defend himself after making the comments, insisting he and Dempsey have moved beyond the incident. He adds, "I kiss Patrick Dempsey. We purposely sing 'Ebony And Ivory' every night since October 9 and nobody has written about it."

Executives at TV network ABC are have slammed Grey's Anatomy star Isaiah Washington's use of a gay slur at the Golden Globe Awards as "unacceptable." Washington stunned cast mates in the press room at the awards show on Monday, when he insisted he never used the word "f****t" to describe gay co-star TR Knight during an on-set spat last year. ABC issued a statement Thursday saying, "We have a long-standing policy to create and maintain respectful workplaces for all our employees. We dealt with the original situation in October, and thought the issue resolved. Therefore, we are greatly dismayed that Mr. Washington chose to use such inappropriate language at the Golden Globes, that he himself deemed 'unfortunate' in his previous public apology. We take this situation very seriously, and his actions are unacceptable and are being addressed." Knight told talk show host Ellen DeGeneres Tuesday that he had, in fact, referred to him as a "f****t" during a scuffle with co-star Patrick Dempsey on the set last year. Fans of the medical drama are also on the attack - in an internet petition, which was sent to ABC bosses Wednesday - over 8,000 viewers asked TV executives to fire Washington.

Disgraced Grey's Anatomy star Isaiah Washington met with leaders of the Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD) yesterday to address his recent homophobic remarks. In a statement last week, Washington declared he needed help after lying about using the word "f****t" to describe gay cast mate TR Knight. He also agreed to meet with GLAAD leaders, who had requested the chance to sit and talk with the actor in a statement they released last week. That meeting took place yesterday, shortly after Washington fired his longtime publicist. GLAAD officials were upset when the actor insisted he "did not call TR a f****t" during a Grey's Anatomy press conference backstage at the Golden Globe Awards last week. Knight went public two days later, revealing his co-star had called him a "f****t" during a heated row with cast mate Patrick Dempsey last October.

Looks like someone is backpedaling faster than Michael Richards... honestly, how could you possibly be an actor & homophobic?  It's mutually exclusive surely

Isaiah Washington is on the verge of being fired from hit TV show Grey's Anatomy, according to media reports in the US. Washington sparked a public backlash last week when he denied calling co-star TR Knight "a f****t" during a press conference at the Golden Globe Awards. And now, according to E! Online reporter Kristin Veitch, executives at ABC are looking for ways to sack the troubled star, who plays Dr. Preston Burke on the show. She writes on her blog, "(I) just received word from a highly placed source within the Touchstone/ABC family that ABC and Disney executives are currently considering the option of firing Isaiah Washington from Grey's Anatomy, effective immediately, without having him appear in any kind of farewell episode. According to this reliable source, if the network does follow through with this option, the producers are likely to run a full-screen announcement at the beginning of the first Burke-less episode that announces Isaiah Washington is no longer part of the show. I'm also told by various sources that the loss of Preston Burke is not an easy task for Grey's writing staff to deal with, given that he has a major storyline (including a life-changing event) coming in the next few episodes that air during February sweeps. Those episodes have already been shot." ABC issued a statement last week calling Washington's behavior "unacceptable" and he has since issued an apology and met with gay leaders.

Isaiah Washington's Grey's Anatomy cast mates are keeping their distance as the disgraced actor battles his demons in rehab. The star was a no-show at Sunday's Screen Actors Guild Awards, where his cast mates claimed a Best TV Ensemble, after checking into a treatment centre to address issues that reared up after he twice referred to gay co-star TR Knight as a "f****t." And while co-star Chandra Wilson offered her support to him during her Best Actress acceptance speech, other cast mates weren't quite so warm towards Washington. Katherine Heigl, who suggested the actor shouldn't be allowed to speak publicly after mentioning the 'f' word at a Golden Globe Awards backstage press conference earlier this month, was still chilly towards him. Of his SAG Awards absence, she said, "As far as we know, he's seeking treatment right now to help with some of his issues. We don't know when he'll be back, or for how long." After publicly apologizing for his remarks, Washington checked into a residential treatment facility last week in a bid to keep his job on the medical drama, according to news reports in America.

Ugly Betty's one of the highest rated new shows of 2006/07. Why the hell would they play it Saturday? On arguably the least watched night on TV.

because I heard a rumour that channel 7 was going to make Saturday night viewing something special & put together a reasonable schedule of viewing pleasure... it seemed plausible at the time, considering how many decent programs that they actually have just laying about

you never never know

Look at programs like Lou Grant

If they get some decent cast members & a couple of proper writers, maybe steal some from the anatomy

But from what I hear it's all systems go

They are having a special episode centred on the theme. Then they will see what the audience reaction is.

Troubled Isaiah Washington has hired one of Hollywood's top gay public relations gurus to help boost the actor's image after his infamous homophobic controversy. Washington recently underwent counseling after his use of the word "f****t" to describe a homosexual Grey's Anatomy cast mate turned gay leaders against him. And now he's bringing in openly gay PR Howard Bragman to help him with damage control. A source tells website Tmz.com that Bragman is known for "telling it like it is." Bragman's Fifteen Minutes staff have confirmed the legendary PR has added Washington to his client list. A spokesman says, "Our work with Isaiah is about his future, not the past. There is an important dialogue in our society about diversity that needs to happen, and Isaiah is uniquely positioned to be the catalyst for this." Washington called cast mate T.R. Knight a "f*****t" during an onset fight with co-star Patrick Dempsey last year. The actor, who once played a gay man in Spike Lee film Get On The Bus, repeated the slur during a backstage interview after the Golden Globe Awards - as he attempted to clear his name.

Katherine Heigl has dropped out of contract talks with bosses of hit medical drama Grey's Anatomy over a salary dispute. The star plays Dr. Isobel 'Izzie' Stevens on the show and is reportedly upset she is receiving less money than her co-stars. A source tells American publication People, "Katie is disappointed and hurt that (the show's producer) Touchstone doesn't value her as much as her other co-stars, especially Sandra Oh and Isaiah Washington." Sources on the set also say tension has emerged after a spin-off series was announced featuring Kate Walsh's character, Dr. Addison Montgomery. A source tells American publication Star, "The rest of the cast seemed instantly resentful of (Walsh). They each thought they'd be the one chosen to get their own show, and now they're giving Kate the cold shoulder."

Ya kind of get the feeling that it's one of those shows where there are constant arguements about who has the biggest trailer, who has to turn up to set first, who won't sit next to who in makeup. If any of the crew do double duty on desperate housewives they should be having salary disputes!!

OMG I don't watch this show but you can follow it from the adds, I see that Meredith is pregnant but not sure who the father is, OMG arn't they doctors ? don't they have safe sex? can't she get herself a morning after pill ? good to see that shows like this help educate the youth of today. No no unwanted pregeancies in the US, that would never happen.

Really?  I don't follow the show that closely but I haven't picked up on anything... I can't imagine them giving her a child.

Which also reminds me, it's a backdoor pilot for the spinoff show as was pointed out here by one of the highly intelligent posters.  They have some major African-American TV star already signed up to appear

Grey's Anatomy star Isaiah Washington is at risk of losing out on a pay rise after his homophobic outburst earlier this year. Washington shocked Golden Globe Award attendees in January by calling gay co-star T.R. Knight a "f*gg*t" - and the episode is likely to cost the star a wage boost, according to PageSix.com. A source says, "All the actors are in the midst of contract renegotiations, but is using Isaiah's recent troubles to keep from paying him more. "Isaiah knows it is his fault that he may not get the fat raise he was going to get. ABC doesn't have to give him anything - he is under contract for seven years - and this is going to cost him millions. It's just a bitter pill he is going to have to swallow." A representative for Washington says, "We are going to do our business in private, not in the press." Last week, details of a salary dispute between bosses and Grey's Anatomy star Katherine Heigl were leaked to the press.

The cast of hit TV medical drama Grey's Anatomy has been given a huge pay boost. The show's star, bride-to-be Ellen Pompeo, has closed a new deal that will earn her almost $200,000-per-episode, according to trade paper The Hollywood Reporter, while castmates Chandra Wilson and James Pickens Jr. have secured pay hikes to $125,000. Producers are close to securing similar deals with castmembers Justin Chambers and T.R. Knight. The pay increases come a week after details of a salary dispute between ABC bosses and Grey's Anatomy star Katherine Heigl were leaked to the press. Heigl, Sandra Oh, Isaiah Washington and Patrick Dempsey are among those still negotiating new deals.

I know it is a drama and all that but I give up.... I just don't understand the attraction to Meredith, she is so ordinary , if they were all falling over Izzy I would understand but  Meredith nah don't get it!!!!and the story lines are total horse s**t, and it's the number one show for the night.....????? no more for me.

I agree that whole 'I can't sew a button on" thing was ridiculous!   And so what's with the random repeat next week?   Is this just because of the school holidays? ie... ratings period off?

I really dislike the non-ratings periods throughout the year... you must play hunt & seek which programs the channels don't want to mess around with.  It's all completely random...

New show?  Trying to build an audience?  Repeat it... or maybe not

Established program?  Keep the audience happy?  New episode... or maybe not

Patrick Dempsey is convinced his Grey's Anatomy co-star Isaiah Washington is a deeply changed man following recent counseling - but he's still keeping his distance from his fellow TV doctor. The two actors were involved in an on-set fight last October after Washington used a gay slur to attack fellow cast mate T.R. Knight. The controversy rumbled into 2007 when Washington repeated the gay remark at the Golden Globes. He has since apologized, met with gay community leaders and undergone counseling to help him with anger issues, and Dempsey feels sure the actor is a different person. He says, "I haven't spent enough time around him to honestly know what's going on with him... (but) you do have a feeling, when you look at him, that something is different, and that he is working on things. You can't get away from the fact he's doing a great job on the show; he does beautiful work. He's very passionate about it. He allows himself to feel deeply and sometimes that's very difficult to contain and control appropriately."

Grey's star fired for slur
June 08, 2007 04:30pm

GREY'S Anatomy star Isaiah Washington has been fired from the hit US show after ugly publicity that followed when he called a co-worker a "f*g**t".

The American ABC's No. 1 drama returns for a fourth season in September but Washington will not be on it because his contract has not been renewed.

A source told Entertainment Weekly that ABC Studios declined to renew the actor's contract to play the character Preston Burke after the actor created bad press because of his behaviour on and off the set.

A spokesperson for ABC Studios confirmed it has not picked up Washington's option for the next season.

Washington's publicist also confirmed the actor had received a call yesterday telling him he was not invited back to the show.

Last year, Washington was accused of calling fellow actor T.R. Knight a ''f*g**t'' during an on-set argument. He repeated the slur at the Golden Globes in January.

Within days of the incident becoming public, Knight announced he was gay.

The ordeal enraged the show's other stars.

Katherine Heigl told Entertainment Weekly last month that while she was ''furious and frustrated'' by Washington's behaviour at the Globes, she later accepted an apology from him.

"He made a big mistake, and it was thoughtless and boneheaded, and I think he's very sorry and embarrassed. This is something that will have changed the scope of his life," she said.

Washington's character appeared to flee Seattle Grace in last season's finale of Grey's.

Not your fault Paula , but this very last line indicates how the season will end.   That is referring to the last season that has just ended in the States, but it has not yet been shown here, which is what makes it a mini spoiler.

I don't watch the show either.  I stopped watching it a while back.  It was good at first but then it got too soapy.  Typical Junk, same thing over and over packaged in the same wrapper, thrown through a recycler and spit out as having entertainment value.  I can't remember the last time I saw it.

Like so many shows they focus too much on the relationships and not enough on the professional side of it (in this case the hospital and patients). I turned off ER years ago because of this factor. I will however be watching the SOS episode/s because it wont focus so much on the love/angst side of things

No, but with the amount of money this particular TV series is raking in for its network/handlers, you would think they would throw a small amount at some people capable of making some realistic looking special FX

let me just preface with: I haven't read ahead I'm not sure what happens with the drowning character...

But it's not like they are going to change the name of the program or anything... sometimes I think we know too much about the future of certain shows.  I can legally remember everyone's being excited about who shot JR & I can certainly recall the interest in " she's dead ... wrapped in plastic ".

--

And the writers of the " I believe ... " speech that Izzy rattled off to keep the interns grounded should certainly buy a round of drinks to the writer from the film Bull Durham when Kevin Costner was describing something very very similar

Annie Savoy: Oh, where are you going?
Crash Davis: After 12 years in the minor leagues, I don't try out. Besides, uh, I don't believe in quantum physics when it comes to matters of the heart.
Annie Savoy: What do you believe in, then?
Crash Davis: Well, I believe in the soul, the c**k, the pussy, the small of a woman's back, the hanging curve ball, high fiber, good scotch, that the novels of Susan Sontag are self-indulgent, overrated crap. I believe Lee Harvey Oswald acted alone. I believe there ought to be a constitutional amendment outlawing Astroturf and the designated hitter. I believe in the sweet spot, soft-core pornography, opening your presents Christmas morning rather than Christmas Eve and I believe in long, slow, deep, soft, wet kisses that last three days.
[pause]
Crash Davis: Goodnight.
Annie Savoy: Oh my. Crash...

I agree MP, they are not about to let the character the show is named after die, I think it's a pretty safe conclusion there (I haven't read any spoilers either, but I think it's obvious in the same way House is not going to die anytime soon... )

I think that Izzy's speech about her beliefs is the only part of that episode I didn't really enjoy... it was just too melodramatic for my liking...

I do like that we actually see Christina getting emotional about someone else for a change, it makes her more human even though I love her character anyway.

Although there is a precedent... we could ask Valerie Harper about this.

In the fall of 1987, she was abruptedly fired by Lorimar from her NBC TV-Series "Valerie" (1986). She didn't show for filming one day. The series decided to continue on without her as "Valerie's Family" with Sandy Duncan playing Sandy Hogan replacing Valerie Harper's "Valerie Hogan" character. Ms. Harper went to court with Lorimar over breach of contract and in the fall of 1988 was awarded 1.4 million dollars plus 12.5% of the profits of the show that continued on without her until 1991.

The whole crossing over thing was alittle lame, but in the end it all came together not too bad - little cheesy but not bad. Still love Grey's

Former Grey's Anatomy star Isaiah Washington insists T.R. Knight wanted him and co-star Patrick Dempsey off the show because of they were getting better storylines. The actor was fired from the medical drama earlier this month in the wake of a homophobic remark he made about cast mate Knight last October - a comment he repeated at the Golden Globe Awards earlier this year. However, Washington claims Knight turned the remark into a major controversy because he was jealous of the storylines he was getting. He says, "T.R. Knight was very tactical in trying to remove me from the show because he knows that I know, and I was gagged, that he has been working on a conspiracy to get Patrick Dempsey and myself off the show for the last year and a half. I know Patrick Dempsey has supported me by stating that if there is anyone that needs to be fired it is T.R. Knight because he has created such a negative environment on that set because he felt like he has not been treated and given the same leading man kinds of story lines."

& for the latest in the Washington camp from the Internet movie database

Actor Isaiah Washington insists the only reason he was fired from TV show Grey's Anatomy for making a homophobic remark was because of the color of his skin. Washington infamously made an offensive comment about castmate T.R. Knight last October and repeated it at the Golden Globe Awards earlier this year. But the 43-year-old claims he was fired from Grey's Anatomy earlier this month because America can't find it in its heart to forgive an African-American. He cites the examples of actor Robert Downey, Jr., who has rebuilt his career despite multiple run-ins with the police over his drug problems, and politician Arnold Schwarzenneger, who has fought allegations of sexual misconduct. Washington tells U.S. magazine Newsweek, "I apologized and showed my remorse for what I said and for the pain I caused anyone. If a black man can't get forgiveness in this country, when so many other people like Robert Downey, Jr. and the governor of California get second and third chances... I think that says a lot about race and this country where we stand."

& today's Washington woe is me is brought to you from the pages of the Internet movie database

Fired Grey's Anatomy star Isaiah Washington has revealed he twice tried to resign from the show following the fuss caused by the gay slur he uttered during an on-set fight - but TV bosses wouldn't let him walk. The actor made his first full television interview appearance since his firing on CNN's Larry King Live on Monday - and confessed he's still reeling from his departure from the show. Washington is annoyed because he offered to do the right thing after using the word 'f****t' in an argument with co-star Patrick Dempsey last year - and then repeating it at the Golden Globe Awards earlier this year. The scandal outraged gay groups and prompted gay co-star T.R. Knight to come out. Washington agreed to publicly apologize for his comments and met with gay community leaders to ask their forgiveness - and then he offered to quit. He told King, "I expected something. I didn't know that it would happen (firing) because I resigned. I tried to resign twice." Washington also used his chat with King to reiterate the fact he's not anti-gay. He claims an unfortunate word simply slipped out in the heat of the moment and the fight was leaked to the press. He added, "I am not homophobic, no way, shape and form... I made a huge error in judgment." During the interview with King, Washington broke down as he talked about the support he has received from his cast mates. He fought back tears as he explained, "I got a wonderful email from Sandra Oh from Spain."

Ridiculous... He very obviously regrets what he said now, but for the wrong reasons that it got his arse fired!  He needs to learn to try to keep his ...

Loved this weeks episode as usual.

George, George, George... he always gets himself in trouble!  I think it's funny that he's not really considered to be one of the hotties of the show, but he gets just as much, if not more action than most of them!  Especially McSteamy now he has to be celibate for Addison!

like sand through the hourglass, so to are the days of Mr. Washington no longer working

Today apparently it's McDreamy's fault

Isaiah Washington has blamed his former Grey's Anatomy co-star Patrick Dempsey's poor time-keeping for the furious argument that cost him his job on the show. Washington was eventually fired from the hospital drama after he was accused of using a homophobic slur against gay cast member T.R. Knight. But the actor tells talk show host Larry King he used the word during a fight with Dempsey after he become fed up with his constant lateness and confronted him. He claims Knight was never involved, and he never directed a gay slur at Knight. Washington says, "He became unhinged, sprayed spittle in my face. I'm asking him why is he screaming at me. ... He just becomes irate. I said several bad words. There's no way you're going to treat me like the B-word, the P-word or the F-word." He insisted the "F-word" was not intended as a gay slur - but used to imply "somebody who is being weak."

a terrific character indeed... yes it's such a problem when you find out your partner is wealthy.  Over the years I have had the privilege of being involved with two wealthy women, both of whom felt the need to disclose this only awhile into the relationship.  Strange! Regardless of her financial situation, I would select George's wife over any of the other women in the show.  So George only has to have relations with one more & he has the entire set of three go George go

Actor Isaiah Washington has landed his first TV role after being fired from Grey's Anatomy. Washington was dismissed by bosses at TV network ABC earlier this summer - seven months after the behind-the-scenes fracas hit the headlines, prompting another co-star, T.R. Knight to come out as a homosexual. Washington publicly apologized for his comment and met with gay leaders to seek forgiveness - but it wasn't enough for him to keep his job. However, the controversy hasn't ended the actor's TV career - he will guest star on network NBC's upcoming Bionic Woman show, an update of the 1970s program starring Lindsay Wagner. Washington has also signed a development deal with NBC to star in an action drama, which is being lined up for the 2008-2009 season.

really?  I actually found it interesting & would certainly watch the series...

Meredith needed to be slapped... they should make it a part of every episode.  Have I mentioned that I'm not a fan of the actress that plays Meredith?

& don't start me on cameo appearances... it was like I was on the red cordial again (that was some bad stuff when I was in primary school) & completely hyper with the excitement over spotting them all & calling out the TV shows

Bit of an anti climax ending really, I mean the whole Burke walking out just didnt make sense in terms of the storyline. He wanted to get married and he knew what Kristina was like - a little detached and unemotional for the most part. She was ready to get married and wanted to it was just pre wedding jitters, yet it is Burke who calls it off and flees. I know he was sacked but im sure there could have been a stronger storyline to back it up.

Overall this season was good, but not GREAT like last season.

I could be wrong, I have been before, but I am fairly sure I had read that the storyline we witnessed was not changed from the original after Isaiah did not have his contract renewed

How much of a delay did we have between broadcasting in the states & here?  It might have already been shot, the ending, before Mr. Washington received his fateful telephone call.

the episode where the derogatory comment was used was the camping episode, which aired on the ninth of the 11th in the US

The final episode made it to their screens on the 17th of the fifth month... one would think they filmed it a fair bit before that

From what I understand the original storyline definitely didn't have the wedding going ahead

How long do we have to wait for the new season?  Canada only just saw the episode with Addison leaving tonight, but the new season airs 27th September, 2007.

"Grey's Anatomy" kicks off with a premiere episode entitled "A Change is Gonna Come." Christina (Sandra Oh) returns from her honeymoon with Meredith (Ellen Pompeo) and tries to find her no-show fiancé Burke.

Meredith, Cristina, Izzie (recent Emmy Award-winner Katherine Heigl) and Alex (Justin Chambers) spend their first day as residents with their own groups of interns.

The interns this year include George (T.R. Knight), repeating his intern year after failing his exams, and Lexie Grey (Chyler Leigh), Meredith's half-sister whom she has never met.

Now that Derek's (Patrick Dempsey) relationship with Meredith has reached an emotional standoff, he looks to his fellow doctors for friendship, including Bailey (Chandra Wilson).

Bailey is also wrestling with her place within the hospital now that her former interns report to new Chief Resident Callie (Sara Ramirez), as well as Richard (James Pickens Jr.), who is resuming his position as Chief of Surgery.

I agree wholeheartedly... I despise this woman with a passion

She has a more facial hair than I do & the body of a 14 year old prepubescent boy, and that's just the actress... don't get me started on the character

The retarded storyline of saving the deer, OMG... you have a Packer Wacker  that can no longer be used on ppl

Former Friends star David Schwimmer is to further his love of British culture by directing the Los Angeles studio segments of hit sitcom Little Britain's U.S. spin-off.

The Run Fat Boy Run director, who fell in love with London life while acting onstage there, will take charge of segments for the six-episode transplant of the cult sketch comedy series, starring comedians David Walliams and Matt Lucas.

Michael Patrick Jann will direct other parts of the episodes, which are shooting on location in North Carolina.

Schwimmer's segments feature guest stars Rosie O'Donnell and Sting, according to Daily Variety.

Latest: Katherine Heigl has upset staff on the set of Grey's Anatomy after withdrawing from the Emmy awards as part of a protest about her character's development on the hit show.

The actress insisted her name be left off the official ballot because she felt her character was awful during the most recent season of the medical drama.

But the move has disgruntled workers on the programme.

A source tells America's Entertainment Weekly, "The show bent over backwards to accommodate her film schedule, and then she criticises the show for lack of material?

"It's an ungrateful slap in the face to the very writers responsible for her Emmy win in the first place."

Heigl won the Best Supporting Actress prize at the Emmys last year. She has since established herself as a movie star with roles in Knocked Up and 27 Dresses.

Producers and writers of Grey's Anatomy are angered by Katherine Heigl's recent announcement that she had decided to withdraw her name from Emmy competition because of the show's weak clips over the past season, the New York Times reported today (Monday). Today's New York Times reported that Heigl is looking for a way to pull out of her contract with the producers so that she can pursue further opportunities in Hollywood.

I said this was so... now, imagine she doesn't get out of her contract.  Imagine the writing quality her character will receive next season

You have to admit though her acting this season has not warranted an emmy nom, she has been terrible and im glad she has the balls to admit it.

As opposed to her Oscar-winning performances last year?  All she did was become emotional with the father from supernatural

She is thick anyway... I remember watching her sulking on one of the talk shows when the writers strike was on & some of the awards ceremonies were being cancelled, she was really upset because she was going to miss out on the SWAG

Love this show. Katherine Heigl is a crappy actor. I hope you don’t mind MP but I am very mindful when reading things where people call other people something like you did, however innocuous it seems. Recently there has been a debacle in the news regarding The NRL Footy Show and how a mentally challenged disabled young man was branded drunk. I have edited your word to convey the same meaning but in a different way.

not a problem... however it I did actually mean what I said in the true definition of the word, not the derogatory sense... I truly feel that way

There are different definitions to the word & I was not looking at the one Re: mentally handicapped

Today I watched the shows I recorded last night.
Grey's Anatomy returned for a new season. Izzie (Katherine Heigl who is a better actor than 2 years ago) comes back to life but George sadly dies from his injuries after saving a young woman from being hit by a bus (thereby being hit by the bus himself). McDreamy and Meredith are having sex everywhere in the house they share with others after getting married at last. Izzie and Alex have problems after she literally died in his arms and then was revived. He is afraid of everything now even afraid to touch Izzie. I cried with George's friends through the entire episode.

I don't know why but I laughed so hard when they were cracking up at the funeral and Izzies husband goes "...and O'malley gets hit by a bus!"

poor O'malley we'll miss him

I did too CS, because it was a release. There was a scene in the Movie 'Steel Magnolias' after a funeral where the women did the same thing. As Izzie said 'and I got Cancer, what's with that' and laughs even harder. Excellent episode (double). If they show the episode they featured for next week (after last nights eps) then Seven is not showing the series in order because what they showed was episode 4

I don't like the new doctors from Mercy West except for maybe that guy that Karev got into a fight with in the last episode. Meredith is hardly in it now and izzie gets fired what is happening to this show?

The entire cast of Grey's are fabulous but this woman is exotic (no wonder with her bloodline) and is a stand out actress. Sara and Bailey are my favourite actors/characters on Greys closely followed by McSteamy aka Eric Dane.
