I bit the bullet and asked for a quote on a new tower for my desk top.
My son tells me I need a dual core with 2GB RAM, 320G Hard drive, Windows 7 operating system with one writer. I have all the peripherals just need the tower. I have excellent Altec Lansing subwoofer and speakers. I can get an advance on my Centrelink disability of $500. Interest free direct debited from my pension over 13 fortnightly payments.   My PC is over 8 years old. and I have been nursing her through her twilight years

Yeah I realise mine is also about 8 years old as well and I'm also probably very much ready for an update  ...but this current PC still does the job brilliantly (touch wood)  and I have trouble reconciling the expense if I don't get much or any improvement.

Well my darling old PC who is now using a walking frame and takes 10-15 minutes to go 10 feet..... is now being given a new sound card in the next week as my money needs to be saved because gosh darn it I may have to move in August because my house-monster has lost the plot and she is moving and I may have to also because after the sh*t this woman has caused with me and the previous house-mate, the Landlord would rather a family in here. Anyhoo, gotta save the money and the new PC has to be put off for another year. After 8+ years you would think that the Qld Government Housing would give a disabled pensioner a bl**dy break! I qualify for a seniors unit so would not be in a bogan community.
