I love Stargate sg1.
I recently got my daughter hooked. I was watching the StarGate movie and my daughter sat and watched the last hour and liked it. I put in the dvd of the first episode of the series and she watched it avidly. That week the tv was in a continuous StarGate loop. Hour after hour.
She demanded to know how long I've been hiding this show from her. *smiling* She was the one that would walk in while I was watching, groan about the nerds in the house, shake her head because she was related to a StarGate watcher and walk out again.

I like Atlantis but it just isn't the same as SG1. The characters are so 'real' and likable in SG1.  Almost like family. (well I did watch a week of nonstop stargate)

I d/loaded the first three season 9 and was disappointed that Jack won't be a regular. The fan site says that he wants to spend more time with his family and that's understandable, but I will miss him.

I have watched both the latest series' and last week watched the 2 season finales. Now Jack is gone so much I think I like both Stargates equally. Richard Dean Anderson is an executive producer, is he not? So he still has a big hand in it but yes, I too heard/read where he wants to spend more time with his family. Good for him. After watching an entire series with the new SG1 crew I am hooked as much as ever. It still has that dry sense of humour as well. The Atlantis crew has grown on me as well. Especially a new guy who is a bit of a rogue. Yummo!

What new guy in Atlantis? Are you hiding him in a box under your bed? *smiling*

I have only watched the episodes that have been on TV. I haven't seen him yet. Maybe I should wear my glasses?

yes Jade   he's not too bad either. Remember the guy, Ben Browder, who was the human on Farscape (as opposed to every other creature there except for Claudia Black). He is the new Lt.Col. Cameron Mitchell. Claudia also featured in the first few episodes of this next series (just finished in the US). She was great. The humour is still there especially with her character and Dr.Daniel Jackson. Claudia was born in Sydney Australia 11th October 1972, just as a bit of trivia, and Farscape was filmed in Oz with a lot of Aussie actors in it. They translated well into Stargate SG1

Found some funny quotes from Stargate SG1

Daniel: She's Hathor, the goddess of fertility, inebriety, and music.
Jack O'Neill: Sex, drugs, and rock & roll?

Dr. Daniel Jackson, Ph.D.: This tastes like chicken.
Capt.: So what's wrong with it?
Dr. Daniel Jackson, Ph.D.: It's macaroni and cheese.

Anubis: I am Anubis.
[President Hayes steps forward]
President Hayes: You've got to be kidding!
Anubis: You are the leader of this world?
President Hayes: Henry Hayes, President of the United States of America, one nation among many.
Anubis: No more. Bow before your god.
President Hayes: [laughing] I don't think so! However, I am willing to discuss your surrender.
Anubis: If you possessed weapons matching mine, you would have used them.
President Hayes: Don't let the suit fool you, fella. We're gonna fight you.
Anubis: You bring destruction upon yourselves.
President Hayes: [pointedly] Never going to happen.
[the Anubis hologram disappears and President Hayes turns around to face the others]
President Hayes: Too much?

Jack O'Neill: [Hammond has accepted O'Neill's offer of a beer] I hope you like Guinness, sir. It's a perfect substitute for... food.

Daniel Jackson: So we'd be looking for a needle in a haystack.
Thor: A haystack of infinite size.
Daniel Jackson: That's big.

Colonel: Do you read The Bible, Teal'c?
Teal'c: It is a signigicant part of your culture. Have you not read The Bible, O'Neill?
Colonel: Of course... Actually I'm listening to it on tape. Don't tell me how it ends.

Capt.: Sir, if you don't mind, your wound is bleeding all over my lab.

Colonel: I hope you diplomatically told him where to shove it.

Capt.: Where's Daniel?
Colonel: Ernest is showing him a new toy.
Capt.: Really, what?
Colonel: Just some fancy light show that may be the key to the universe or something.

Capt.: I've just never blown up a star before.
Colonel: Well they say the first one is always the hardest.

Colonel: It's time for Plan B.
Capt.: We have a Plan B?
Colonel: No, but it's time for one.

Baal: You dare mock me?
Colonel: Come on Ba'al, you should know. Of course I dare mock you.

[repeated line]
Colonel: Oh for crying out loud!

Capt.: [repeated line] Holy Hannah!

There are just too many quotes to choose from, don't ya love it!?

Gave up watching Stargate on the Box years ago, TV stations treat Sci Fi stuff so badly when it comes to scheduling times. But I religously buy each series as it becomes available. (Except for the one time I cracked and bought it pre - australian release from Ebay - talk about bad pirate copy, complete with asian subtitles)

Oh I miss SG1...I'm afraid Atlantis never did it for me in quite the same way...no Dainel...no Jack

It seems I'm one of the few people in the known universe who refuses to buy box sets of tv shows on DVD but if I was ever going to succumb to temptation it would be SG1...maybe not the last series tho' when they lost the plot a bit...but all the others

Thanks for the quotes tho' Suzi...made me smile and remember the good old days

Jack wont be in hardly any of the new episodes, Phantom, but the wit and candour is plentiful with the new people and some of the old.

We are Sci-Fi freaks. Babylon 5, some of the Star Trecks (eg Voyager) and most of any others and YES Oz TV does treat Sci-fi shabbily. Damn them. Don't they realise we are religious about our SCI-FI. Beam them (the programming execs) up Scotty!

Undoubtedly 7 will air both sometime next year...putting them on late at night, changing the time each week, not advertising at all that it's gonna be on...usual score.

AND lets not forget Pammy Anderson sometimes Lee. her show sucks big time also and I only catch it while surfing through the channels. What a load of rubbish. Stargate is out of this world (pun intended) and I have seen whatever has been shown in the US of this next season. It hasn't lost any of it's humour or exciting story lines. I think Australian TV stations are getting more stupid (if that's at all possible) and treating we the viewers with contempt. Why is it in the US they have a whole Channel dedicated to Sci-Fi and here in Oz Sci-Fi and Fantasy is relegated to the graveyard shift or moved to different days & times so often the shows don't rate.

Is it possible that if we write to channel Seven they will schedule it earlier?

I should have thought that it has been scheduled to run for a tenth season would tell the channel that it is rating well in other countries, where it is put on at a decent time.

Well a few reasons. First, I think the Sci-Fi channel's on cable, so you only get it if you pay. Second, even if it is free-to-air, the US has different legislation regarding TV stations. Here in Australia, there's far fewer people, so although we may need an extra free-to-air channel, there's just not enough money to start one.

As for the rating part, Seven never seemed to advertise it much before moving it to 10.30. If they advertised it, it may have drawn in more viewers. Same with Futurama and all that. Oh well. If 10 got their hands on the Stargate series it'd be cool.

SG1 has recommenced and 2 episodes have been shown in the US so far. I have watched and enjoyed immensley both. I especially enjoyed the second one entitled 'Collateral Damage' which was a real investigative episode, a real 'whodunnit', something I always enjoy.

last I heard it was going to be at -least- october before we saw it, and even then it will only be season 9 of SG1 (I think. its been so long that I have forgotten) and I think S2 of Atlantis? the US is up to season 10 of SG1 and S3 of SGA.

remember when we were actually -ahead- a couple of episodes for a month or two once? those were the days.

this site usually has good info about when it comes on:

stargate news australia:
http://www.gasbo.net/stargate/news.htm

nothing there at the moment about air dates though.  just says "No news yet on when Stargate SG-1 season 9 and Stargate Atlantis Season 2 will air in Australia. Sad isnt it?"

yes, it is.

hmm im a fan of both series but mostly Atlantis & i have 2 say that if the writers just made the characters of Atlantis just clones of Sg1 then u wouldn't have anything new... the good thing about Atlantis is that the team differs to the Sg1 team...

eg u have Mckay... an arrogant man who always believes that he knows almost eveything (adding ALOT of humour in2 the show)
Shephard... a LT.Colonel who is also could'av joined MENSA (adds someone who actually has the brains to keep up with the scientists of the expidition & think quickly on his feet)

this keeps the show from being 2 similar

Also there is news of a new stargate series that could be comming out... the only decision that is to be made is whether should the new series run with the other 2 Sg1 & Atlantis, or will they wait until Sg1 has finished.

McKay: "Don't stare, he hates it when people stare."
Sheppard: "Am I the only one who thinks it's strange we're working with an alien?"
McKay: "Intergatic hyperdrive technology is kind of new to us, so we need his help."
Sheppard: "Is he suppose to be naked like that?"

there is talk that the third series might spin off from the rumoured movie too.

Executive vice president Charles Cohen (see related story) says MGM “intends” to develop a theatrical movie “derived from the series over the last 10 years” that would ideally “dovetail” into a third Stargate television show.

Theatricals would “not in any way impair” SG1's television run, he asserts. He believes it's possible for three Stargate series to air concurrently, not unlike the Law & Order franchise.

i'd like to see the series run all at once... SG1 then Atlantis then the 3rd... but according to a poll on Gateworld it says that most people they like the idea but surprisingly a large amount would like to see it aired after the Sg1 Series has ended.

"What scenario for a third Stargate TV series would you MOST like to see?"

       VOTES      PERCENT
Series 3 begins when SG-1 ends                      1830      26 %
Let Atlantis run alone first                                      618      9 %
Atlantis ends, SG-1 and Series 3 air together      373      5 %
Wait till both current series end                      480          7 %
Air all three shows together!                                      3835     54 %

TOTAL                                                                      7136     100.00 %

Although I dont think that Sg1 will end anytime soon because of their new & powerful foe.

have you heard who is playing that new person? Im so excited I cant wait till july.

I'd like to see all three at once too. there are a lot of people that dont like SG1 anymore now that certain people have left and other certain people have joined (not sure if thats a spoiler so shall sush on who) so perhaps thats factoring into the "let SG1 end" train of thought.

long live stargate I say!

tuesday's new ep of the simpsons.. is the episode that Richard Dean Anderson (jack, SG1) has a part in. There are references to Stargate as well as macgyver. Mostly Macguyver though. Its so funny, definately worth watching.

I'll delete it!

I have watched one new ep of Atlantis and two new eps of SG1, the new series' showing in the US (Via Internet). They are tied into each other's story lines and have to be watched one after the other, in sequence.... wonder how Australia will much that up when Free to Air gets them!

Totally agree! I watched it just this morning. Had me chuckling all the way through it. And the Atlantis ep seriously had me in stitches. S3 ep 3. Hilarious.

For those that havent heard...

SCI FI Channel confirmed that it will not renew its record-breaking original series Stargate SG-1 for another season, but will pick up its spinoff series Stargate Atlantis for a fourth year.

Stargate SG1 is in it's 10th season. How great is that? Stargate Atlantis is in it's 3rd. When they were talking about another Stargate who among us thought it would be... could be... this successful. These shows are great.

Well... hopefully Stargate SG-1 goes into syndacation in the US... cause its a great show & I believe that there is still alot of life left in the show espcially with the Ori.

The eBroadcast TV Guide always does that to shows that run from 11:30pm to 12:30am... if you click on the Late Night Shows Link you will find Stargate runs from Midnight to 12:30am as well and reads as a half hour show in that section too:

STARGATE SG-1
Broadcast Date: Thursday 5 October 2006
Channel: Free to Air / Seven
Broadcast Time: 12.00 am
Classifications: Science Fiction, Drama, M
Timeslot Duration: 30 mins

It seems to be just the way the guide is setup that it shows up like that in such incidents of 1 hour programs going from "Night" to "Late Night" in the links there.

I love Stargate SG1.
Love Jack & Daniel.

I never could take to Atlantis.
I tried ... but I just didn't like it.

I hope SG1 comes back to Ch7 sometime this year.

Good news for us Stargate fans.  In January of this year, MGM made a commitment to continuing to the Stargate franchise by giving the green light to Stargate: The Arc of Truth, which begins production on April 15 and Stargate: Continuum which will feature the epic ice camp scenes, and resumes filming on May 22. Written and produced by Brad Wright and Robert Cooper, Stargate: The Arc of Truth and Stargate: Continuum will include the following Stargate SG-1 cast members: Ben Browder, Amanda Tapping, Chris Judge, Claudia Black, with Beau Bridges and Michael Shanks.  Richard Dean Anderson will be reprising his role as General Jack O'Neill for Stargate: Continuum.

Both of the movies will be direct to DVD.  Now if Ch 7 will only air season 10 as it would be good for the people who haven't seen it to know what is going on before the movies come out.

In other news.  With SG1 finished, Amanda Tapping will travel to the Pegasus galaxy to join the Atlantis cast and reprise her role as television’s favorite astrophysicist, Lt. Colonel Samantha Carter.  She will appear in 14 of the season’s 20 episodes.

Anyone else looking ofrward to seeing the Stargate series?  Stargate Universe I think it is called and I think it premieres in the US on 2 October 2009.  It does have Lou Diamond Phillips in it and I really like him so may watch...Unfortunately none of the SG1 people from Stargate or Atlantis will be in it which is a shame as I loved both series.

Yesterday while on the stairs, I saw a Man who wasn't there.  He wasn't there again today...I wish that He would go away!!
