I have just recently read the fantasy series wheel of time and was wondering if anyone else here had also.

We rode on the winds of the rising storm,
we ran to the sound of thunder.
We danced among the lightning bolts,
and tore the world asunder.

I haven't heard of the series or read the books. Tell us a bit about them and who the series is written by.

Ditto.

Seriously, I've heard of the series and have seen some people rave about it, but know nothing at all about the books themselves.  Do tell more.

The series was written by Robert Jordan and has become my new favourite series of books.

This site http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Wheel_of_Time tells the basic premise of the story without giving anything away. Plus there are heaps of other links at the bottom of the page.

There were quite a few simularities between this series and The Lord of The Rings but still different enough to be entertaining and it starts to change quite a bit as the series goes on.

I loved the wheel of time series, my only issue is that he died before he finished it! There is a final book in the makings at the moment where his wife and son (i think are finishing the series. I hope it is good.
