Well put Cactus, lol. I am tipping the Eels to win today but it would be great to see the Cowboys then we would have 2 teams in the Grand Final making their debuts.

Well I am gobsmacked, not speechless mind but totally astounded. The Cowboys have won the Semi Final against the Eels and are in the Grand Final next weekend. So how's that for a turnup for the books? Wow! They won 29-0 against the once great Parramatta Eels. The grand finals will definitly be worth watching now. Go the Tigers!!

I cannot for the life of me figure out why the Grand Final is going to be on a Sunday NIGHT. Don't people have to work and/or go to school the next day? Whatever happened to Saturday afternoon grand finals like the AFL just had? Is it greed for the almighty dollar in ratings? Please enlighten me someone.

Well, in NSW at least, it's a public holiday on Monday. It doesn't finish that late anyway. I'm sure you can watch it and go to bed by 10 and still get up in time for work on Monday. I realise that even though it may be a public holiday, some people do still work - retail etc.

Rugby League used to be played on saturday afternoons as well, but nobody would go to the games, so they made them Saturday night instead plus the usual Sunday and Friday night. Grand Finals have been on the Sunday night of the long weekend at least the last couple of years. Some of it is about tv ratings.

PS It's also middle of school holidays.

Well they shouldn't be. They played crap. I think Lance Thompson would be one of the few who could claim to giving 100% and having his mind on the job. My fist is black and blue from thumping it on the table for all the stupid mistakes they made. Just when you think they are about to make up for the 1999 Grand Final. Losers yet again. AAAAGGGGHHHHH!

I'm not sad, just angry at the  way they played. Brownie certainly didn't have them up for the game. Then again, Parramatta suffered the same fate.

It is actually the end of the NSW school holidays, the middle of the Vic one's and god knows where for the other states holidays but my point was to do with people going to the game, with the traffic etc it would be after mid-night before even the quickest got home. If it's a LWE in NSW then that does answer a bit of my question and coming from NSW originally I remember well the days when the Grand Finals were held on a Saturday afternoon. I still think it would be sensible to be on a Saturday evening not a sunday evening. I suppose evenings may of come into play (excuse the pun) because of the heat factor also.
Wonder if the powers that be will sack Brownie. They got rid of Andrew Farrar quick smart and IMHO he was as good if not a better coach than Brownie.
My ex-husband is a staunch St.George supporter and not to be too mean but I am sooooo happy they are not in the grand final and some new blood has a chance to shine.

Suzi... it will actually be the middle of the school holidays in NSW... (well, I hope it will be, because my daughter's staying home from school all of next week! !)

To your original question of why on Sunday night... I'd have to agree that it has a lot to do with ratings, advertising and the good-old dollar! Sure, they'll get a packed stadium (and times that by the cost of a meat pie and cup of beer), but the money lies in the televion audience which the advertisers must be paying huge bucks to entice with their goods in prime-time advertising.

I apologise to everyone about the mix up with school holidays. Qld public/state schools went back on Monday, NSW started their hols a week after we did, therefore... you are correct in saying it is the middle of the NSW school holidays. I knew they were staggering the eastern states holidays this time around. Good idea too.
Now to the matter at hand, ARL Grand Final....
TIGERS
TO
WIN

!!!!!!!!!!!!!
