Why does the subject of Shane Warne becoming Vice Captain keep rearing it's ugly head. I know he is a world champion bowler but sadly I think his off field antics  over shadow his playing prowess. Because of his absolute stupidity when it comes to the female of the species, he has proven himself to be a dreadful role model to young men and boys the world over.  I know the women who have involved themselves with Shane Warne have done so willingly but this guy cannot control himself. He can't even stop text messaging. He got rid of his phone... for a minute or two, and discovered he could not live without it. It would be a travesty if this womanising marauder was given accolades for his on field aptitude when his off field indiscretions are in the news to such an extent.

How did you guess, Lawnbowler? lol. I think Shane Warne can be a brilliant cricketer BUT he has no control of his behaviour off the field. Having a wonderful supporting family, a beautiful long suffering wife and two beautiful children was not enough for him. He is very hedonistic and as such is a  vile role model for our young men and boys. Has any other cricketer in the history of aussie cricket brought so much scorn upon themselves for their off field behaviour?

If Simone Warne takes Warnie back after everything he has put her through then she needs to be committed to a Psychiatric Hospital. This guy is a rat, and once a rat always a rat.

If Shane Warne was the regular joe that lived next door to me, I would still think he was a moron, a sleaze and a love rat. Maybe I am too close to the situation having an Ex-husband who was unfaithful for no other reason than someone made herself available to him. It took me 7 years to get over it, and a couple more to realise I was not in love with him anymore and tell him how I felt and divorce him. It is a hurt that never heals. A trust broken that will never come back. Shane has been unfaithful more times than even he can remember, and even after telling Simone he would stop blah blah blah, he didn't and couldn't and never had the good sense to. Fair enough if someone has made one indiscretion but to continually repeat it, with any number of women, using safe sex or not, putting his wife at risk of god knows what diseases and public humiliation. To me my dislike of Warnie is not 'Tall Poppy Syndrome' at all. I find him a narcissistic, hedonistic, adulterous human being and they are qualities I do not acquiesce to in anyone, be they famous, infamous or joe blow.

I think I am entitled to go off topic but this does concern one of Australia's great bowlers, who essentially is a role model to young boys and men. Because of his off field antics this has detracted from his brilliance as a cricketer, IMHO. It IS about cricket, therefore and about a love rat who is a predominant member of Australia's International Cricket Team. Nuff said!

I must have sneezed at the wrong time because I hadn't heard any SERIOUS discussion about it.
What's wrong with the current VC. Gilchrist is just as good a keeper as Warne is at bowling, he can bat as well and he's a hell of a lot better role model than Warne ever will be.

I agree with you about Gilchrist, Zilva Zanga. The media go into over drive when Warnie arrives back in Oz or when he is in the public eye for whatever reason and says things like 'should Shane Warne be made Vice Captain of Australia????' and recently I even voted on a news poll that asked the same question. I chose 'NO' of course, pity was they didn't have a button that says 'Not on your life Nelly'.
