I have two budgies. One is almost 8 years old and the other is under a year old. I had three budgies but my other male died at aged 3 in March this year. The eldest one is called Sunshine and she is a Lutino (Yellow with red eyes and a white cheek) the other is Puddin' and he is blue (I have discovered blue one's are not too bright). I grew up with 3 large aviaries of birds in our family back yard. I owned a white rabbit (NSW is allowed to have them) as did one of my sisters before me, we had a Collie dog called Lassie, Lisa who was a dachshund, a pheasant, 2 turtles and at one time a miniature turtle named Juliette (who lived in the house in an aquarium). A bantam chicken named Henny Penny adopted me and lived in our carport on a shelf and laid an egg every few days for me. We lived on a large block of land! I now live in a Townhouse where birds and fish are the only animals we are allowed to have.

Wow SuziH- you sound like you have/have had some unusual pets!
I have 4 pugs, 2 pekingese and 2 cats!
But I have had mice, rabbits, guinea pigs, fish, budgies and peach faced parrots. The peach faced parrots were vicious and got out of their cage all the time and would lay in wait to bite our toes when we were children- hence I now have a phobia about birds!!
The pics are the 4 pugs (Missy Tim Tam, Ellie Paddlepop, Princess Pollywaffle and Dudley Donut) and the 'fluffy' one is one of the Pekingese- Hugo Boss!

meratcha, do you show them? Or breed them? They are absolutely fabulous. I would love a pekingese. I love them all. My adult daughter has 2 Ratties called Chi and Osiris and 2 black cats named Sam and Xavier. The ratties have a large multi level aviary inside. One cat is very very curious of the rats and the other one is frightened of them! |

Used to do both, but showing interfered too much with my lifestyle of sleeping in on the weekends! Only our girl pekingese, (Nikki Bokkers), is 'whole' (as in not desexed) at the moment, and one day we will have another litter with her (hard to time it right for the school holidays- you need at least 4-5 weeks after they are born to care for them). Hugo Boss (the one pictured) is from her last litter.

I love that the one cat is frightened of them! (Good for the ratties!) I have never had rats, but I have heard that they are much better and much less smelly than mice! |

I can't think of a name for my dragon. I started out thinking that he would need a cuddly name like Muffin, but it just didnt work. His name changes every week or so. He has been Pippi, Jack, Unas, and now is Crickey monster. Quoted from another thread.

If you want a lap dog- I recommend a Pekingese or a Pug
Do Pekingese snuffle like Pugs? I hate that sound. I don't think I could buy a snuffly dog. Or a drooling dog. A neighbour dropped off a boxer pup for me to fall in love with but I know that they drool a lot. |

Awww Gorgeous Peke! I love them, but haven't been able to bring myself to having another one. Anyway, I have a couple of moggy's and just this week adopted a female Maltese. Owners didn't want her anymore. She's a sweet little thing, but has fairly bad tear staining. Any feedback on how best to handle this? I find myself wanting to clean her eyes all the time. |

How about Prickle, wasn't that a name of one of the characters in Gumby? Whatever you call it, it is way cute. I think I love all animals that can be kept as pets. I also love 99% of wild animals. |

Except snails. I've got snails in my letter box and they eat all of my mail up, as well as my junk mail, which I love to read!!
Yeah, say no to snails. |

Put salt in your letter box rockchick. Snails and slugs hate salt. They do tend to love to munch on paper, I wonder why? |

Yes, they are snuffly and snorty! So, no, a Peke would be no good for you Jade! They don't drool, though. I love Boxers and other drooly dogs, BUT I could never have one because of the drool!- just too messy! Love the dragon names, too! |

I know that you can get products specifically for covering/removing tear staining, but have no idea how effective they are. People with white dogs show them without their tear staining, so they must use *something* that works! Perhaps google it & see what you come up with? It might be a 'trial and error' process until you find something that works. Good luck! |

most dogs get out of tear staining once they get older.........we have two Maltese terriers that had stains as puppies, put its no problem now....... i used to run a dog grooming business and my best advise to customers was keep the eyes clean on a daily basis with a weakened solution of baby oil.........it works pretty well....... |
