Oh YEAH! After a good 5 year break from it all, I just bought Metallica's "And Justice For All" for the... 7 or 8th time so I'm about to stick that in the player while cooking for tonight. I've forgiven Metallica for turning in to such cry babies but still refuse to enjoy anything recorded after 1989. Ah the memories... my senior year, a new Metallica release, too many drugs later manifesting as the path to hell, too afraid of girls to do their bidding, utter despair and confusion about life to come... hey that year sucked in more ways than it was good! Anyhow, "METALLICA!" The last album they ever did that should have rightly been done under the name of Metallica. Anything after should have been released as "Comercialica" or something... whinging p2p adverts to come "We would have loved it before 89 if file swapping was around because we couldn't break our further than the LA underground even though we had recording contracts but now after all of our non conformist protesting satirical music is in the past and people know who we are we want you're money because we spent everything we got and we're going to sew Napste because we don't feel like touring like most bands." Jerks. Not that file swapping is great, just that these guys are big time corporate sell outs and it's apparent in their activities concerning file swapping. Okay (looking up at text) I'm putting this album on before I ruin it for myself.
So the whole album. That's what I'm about to listen to. |

The sound of the fan and... well okay then, I just realised what that high pitched noise is. I have the TV remote and tryed to turn it off without looking but apparently I hit AV instead and I only thought I turned it off. I've fixed it now though and it's off. I just tuned into an internet radio so I could say what I'm listiening to but I don't recognise it and it's not a stream that tells you. It's something from the 70's. Like the Temptations meet The Village People sort of thing. It's not very good. Wasn't that facinating |

Harry Manx a northern blues singer/guitar player.
Harry Manx was born on the Isle of Man, immigrated to Canada as a child, returned to Europe in the late seventies to spend many years working festivals as a blues lap-slide guitarist/songwriter. He then moved moved to Japan where he lived and performed for ten years.
In 1990, while Harry was in Japan, he came across a recording of the Indian slide guitarist VM Bhatt. It wasn't long before he contacted Bhatt and made arrangements to join him in India. Manx became a student of Bhatt's and remained with him for five years. They traveled together in India and performed before large audiences.
In spring of 2000, Harry moved back to Canada and set up residence in Saltspring Island, British Columbia. During the summer he recorded his first Canadian CD at the Barn Studios. This debut recording features fourteen tracks of Harry doing his one-man-band sound on the lap slide guitar, the Mohan Veena, the blues harp and vocals.
Harry's music has been called an "essential link" between the music of East and the West.
His songs are short stories that use the essence of the blues and the depth of Indian ragas to draw you in.
His songs grow on you as you listen to them again and again. He has apparently played at Eumundi on the Sunshine Coast but that was before I discovered him. His music is easy listening. To me he looks a lot like Miguel Ferrer off Crossing Jordan. His songs/music is hard to come by.

Quoted from SuziH

I agree with you, Suzi, I love the work of Harry Manx. I have a CD of him called "Harry Manx: Live at the Basement".... Let me know, I can burn you a copy if you like.. Its good to meet somebody with good taste in music..... |

Faulty Times by Black Mountain
Something about this makes it sound almost mystical, I don't know whether it's the sporadic use of Organs or the interchange between the male and female leads, has a laid back pace (fitting for an 8:34 running time) with a military march styled drumming.
Bluesy, but then not.
Weird.
But good. |

*boogies around the room* Best of the Monkees...Here we come, walkin' Down the street. We get the funniest looks from Ev'ry one we meet. Hey, hey, we're the Monkees And people say we monkey around. But we're too busy singing To put anybody down. We go wherever we want to, do what we like to do We don't have time to get restless, There's always something new. Hey, hey, we're the Monkees And people say we monkey around. But we're too busy singing To put anybody down. We're just tryin' to be friendly, Come and watch us sing and play, We're the young gneration, And we've got something to say. Any time, Or anywhere, Just look over your shoulder Guess who'll be standing there Hey, hey, we're the Monkees And people say we monkey around. But we're too busy singing To put anybody down. (break) Hey, hey, we're the Monkees And people say we monkey around. But we're too busy singing To put anybody down. We're just tryin' to be friendly, Come and watch us sing and play, We're the young gneration, And we've got something to say. Hey, hey, we're the Monkees Hey, hey, we're the Monkees [repeat and fade] extra verse: Hey, hey, we're the Monkees, You never know where we'll be found. so you'd better get ready, We may be comin' to your town. |

I'm lovin' at the moment a couple of songs i just stumbled across... We Are Your Friends by Justice Vs Simian I actually found this song through a Kanye West headline - he crashed these guys acceptance of an award at the (i think) mtv videos awards for best vid. Anyway, he's made an a*s of himself getting up on stage as they were thanking people and started saying he spent 1 million on his video clip and deserves the award bla bla bla... anyway, he's making headlines over it. The other .... Music is my hot hot s*x by Cansei de Ser Sexy found this through utube.. |

How embarrassing... he said that the awards would lose creditability if he didnt win. Actually, now he's lost creditability... |

lol music he's a tool. If anyone cares ... this is the 'We Are Your Friends' by Justice Vs Simian that won the award for best video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6zo1-XlazvYand I cant find the Kanye West video that he says deserved to win because it cost 1 mill, had pam anderson, a rocket (or somethin') ... pfft but yeah, he's either big time COPYRIGHT blasted utube or nobody cares to upload it... either way i cant find it. Personally, I've gotten hooked on the 'we are your friends' song... and their film clips heaps clever compared to Kanye's. Kanye's has all been done time and time again. Can't get 'Everybody's Gone To War' by Nerina Pallot out of my head at the moment. It's a great song and the lyrics are very true.
I've got a friend, he's a pure-bred killing machine, He said he's waited his whole damn life for this, I knew him well when he was seventeen, Now he's a man who'll be dead by Christmas.
And, so... Everybody's going to war, But we don't know what we're fighting for, Don't tell me it's a worthy cause, No cause could be so worthy.
If love is a drug, I guess we're all sober, If hope is a song I guess it's all over, How to have faith, when faith is a crime? I don't want to die... If God's on our side, then God is a joker, Asleep on the job, his children fall over, Running out through the door and straight to the sky, I don't want to die...
For every man who wants to rule the world, There'll be a man who just wants to be free, What do we learn but what should not be learnt? Too late to find a cure for this disease.
so... Everybody's going to war, But we don't know what we're fighting for, Don't tell me it's a worthy cause, No cause could be so worthy.
If love is a drug, I guess we're all sober, If hope is a song, I guess it's all over, How to have faith, when faith is a crime? I don't want to die... If God's on our side, then God is a joker, Asleep on the job, his children fall over, Running out through the door, and straight to the sky, I don't want to die... I-I-I-I I-I-I-I don't want to die, I-I don't want to die...
I've got a friend, he's a pure-bred killing machine, I think he might be dead by Christmas... |

^ I swear, with Paris' album the record company has picked the worst songs to release as singles. They are both poppy kinda songs, the rest of the album is more dance/hip hop, there are way better choices for a single. Still, 'Nothing In This World' is growing on me. |

Nope, actually it's an in-game track in The Sims 2: Pets. PCD recorded it specially for the game, and it's a real treat to listen to lol. |

I'm currently listening to clips from MiG on mig-music.com 'cause the CD won't be released here in the States 'til March '07. However, it is being released in Australia January 13 '07. (MiG's the Aussie finalist from RockStar INXS) |

Yaay! I love "Take me back to your house" as well! Such a shame that Basement Jaxx always rates so poorly on the charts. They're ssssooo underrated. Their last two singles/videos were fantastic. |

Kate Nash - Foundations Some of the lyrics... lol I love this song! "My finger tips are holding on to the cracks in our foundation and I know that I should let go but I cant and everytime we fight I know it's not right, everytime that your upset and I smile, I know I should forget but I cant.."
Another cooky song I've heard and love is by Soko - I'll Kill Her. Tripple J have been playing it like crazy and I love it! :p

I get exactly what you mean.. I use to only listen to the music that was really well known but I just got so sick of it all being actually known by EVERYONE and played WAY to many times... and sounding all so much the same!
Good places to check out music dara would be Tripple J 107.7 and by watching JTV Saturday on ABC from 9-11am.
Heres a couple of other good songs. I dont know I really like mellow, alternative kind of stuff so you have to want to chillout and have a laugh with it... anyways, enjoy hun. xx
The Academy Is... - Neighbors The Chemical Brothers - The Salmon Dance
Death Cab For Cutie - I Will Follow You Into The Dark The great american Napkin - The Summer Skinny Interpol - The Heinrich Maneuver Gomez - Girlshapedlovedrug The Rapture - Don Gon Do It, The Rapture - Pieces of the People We Love Feist - 1234 Modest Mouse - Dashboard and Missed The Boat Jack Johnson - Better Together Old Man River - La and Sunshine The Cribs - Mens Needs Sarah Blasko - Planet New Year
Lol and just remember we all have to listen to the cookiest/sh*1 songs before we find our favourites! ... xx |

Hey lurveit, I might check out some of the songs you've listed as you clearly sound like you've got good taste lol. Incidentally, my playlist hasn't been updated in over a year. Sad, I know. |

Although I was iffy about the song at first (and I hate the video), I'm glad that sweet Delta is back. Knowing me I'll get around to buying her album, but I'm not buying this whole "sexed up" image of hers. I wouldn't be surprised if her record company pressured her to go in that direction. |

I know..she comes across as so arrogant these days!
I cant stand the film clip.. shes trying so hard to come across as self-confident and flirty but all I'm catching is the severe bed (s*%) hair with legs around a chair and yeah, shes just so stuck up these days (or as she believes .. grown up) and whats with the accent - what a couple of years in another country and shes already losin all of the aussie? PLEASE! It feels like she’s trying to pronounce words like a pom.
mmm.. just don’t like her much anymore. |

I read an article in the Sunday Telegraph earlier today and her bf was going on about how he's so glad that everybody is finally seeing Delta as a sex symbol. WTF is wrong with everyone? Delta was way sexier before she skankified herself. I feared that someday she would be lead astray; I just wish it hadn't happened so soon. |

Sillygostly, you sound as though you had a little crush on Delta. As far as I can see she has matured, grown up, become a grown up and because of that she has become a woman as opposed to the girl she was. I think she was off track when she was with Mark 'The Poo'. I still don't like who she is with but she is only doing what most young women do. Shedding her teenaged 'skin' and reinventing herself as a beautiful young woman in her own right. BTW I can't stand her music and never listen to it. |

I am right into K T Tunstall at the moment. She is scottish and fabulous. http://www.myspace.com/kttunstall if you want to read about her. 'Big Black Horse and a Cherry Tree' seems to be THE most popular song of hers. I don't have an absolute fav out of all of her songs, just love them all. I did not, however enjoy listening to Missy Elliot and KT singing "get your freak on", I am not keen on Missy Elliot. I like Timbaland too Lurveit. |
