I have just watched a heart stopping AFL grand final. All I can say is 'Yay the Swannies' Being an ex NSWelshwoman I am a die hard NSW fan when it comes to AFL and ARL State of Origin series'. If it couldn't be the Brisbane Lions then it had to be the Swannies. |

I could say a lot about todays game, but will refrain from doing so.........I dont want the term "sour grapes" bandied around in my direction..... Well done Sydney, you had a game plan, it paid off.......well done west Coast, you played as well as you could allowing for conditions............ There is always next year......

What a great game it was. Melbourne's had a carnival atmosphere with all the interstate visitors. There's been a really good vibe in town since Friday morning, and I've met a lot of lovely people who travelled here for the game but also took the time to have a good gander around the place. I also loved the way so many of them loved the trams - and were keen to chat rather than just sit in rows. Seems a shame the party has to finish. |

SOUR GRAPES u may say
sounds like it to me. let's face it, the best team (on the day) won. both sides had their chances and sydney made the best of theirs. there'll be next year. i wonder if a vic club will make it to the g/f in 2006. it's been a bit of a drought in past years hehe! |

Too true, Paula. But I noticed that the AFL Hierachy on the day did not let us forget that the Swans were a Melbourne team originally. Always good to look like they are welcoming with open arms a team so often portrayed as the poor relation. Maybe that should be 'Black Sheep' but the end result is the same... The Cup is in the most beautiful city in Australia, if not the World. Psssst... that's not Melbourne! |

As someone who had no vested interest in either team winning (or losing) I thought it a ripper of a game and a truly national finals at last. Also, the atmosphere in town has been quite carnival for the three days from Friday, with fans from both teams out in force enjoying themselves.
I think I would've preferred a Weagles win if really pushed, but am quite happy with Sydney too: it's been a long time between flags for that team.
Here's to next year! |
