I liked how they all talked about unity and togetherness etc and as soon as they got in the cars after the start, the bickering started.

Not sure if I have a favourite family yet but I think this will be a good series as the teams seem to have to stick together (being family) as opposed to the partner series.

The funniest thing was when the girls figured out it may not be an elimination round and put on all their clothes! Bras, panties etc on the outside of the clothes they were wearing, layer upon layer, cracked me up! The comment Phil made about it being illegal in Panama to wear your underwear on the outside of you pants was funny. The annoying mother of the Paolo family with the even more annoying elder son are like a train wreck that you just can't help watching. Paolo mum did so well Bungee Jumping. I was very proud of her. I didn't like the Mum in the family with the youngest kids comment after the Paolo completed the fast forward task of Bungee Jumping. Those kids are going to swear their heads off before they even reach teenager-hood. I record this show usually after Bones, and absolutely love it).

That's the widowed Mum and three kids? The Weavers. When they began the race they were constantly whinging and bi***ing and one of the girls was crying a lot. Mum took things in hand as best she could and while at a roadhouse having a bite to eat (they were sharing the bus with all other contestants at the time) Mum decides to instill encouragement and excitement regarding the race. They come out of the diner dancing about and leaping like ballerinas saying things like 'we're so happy'. When some of the other contestants saw them doing that they decided the family is whacky and not in a good way! Now the family is treated badly because some other competitors feel they are nutty and shouldn't win the Million.
It was sad to watch the losers this week with the little girl, Carissa, trying so very hard NOT to cry when eliminated that it only made it worse. Those kids did so well for their ages. The Dad was sad but he encouraged and commended the rest of the family on being such good competitors. He was almost in tears himself in the car driving away from the red bean fiasco.
This series, number Eight, was aired in the US 12 months ago. I have cheated and looked at who won and the episode recaps already.
I still watch it though because that is the fun of it.

Thanks Suzie, that explains it
Yeah I was sad that family lost, they worked well together.
Must say though, even though the New York team treat each other terribly they have really surprised me lately at how well they are doing

You're not the only one!
I came late to reality TV and have no time for BB etc., but Love the Amazing Race & Survivor. My partner bemoans the number of series they are making, 'cos I just end up glued to them!   hee hee

I would rather watch TAR than any other 'reality' show. I like the way it unfolds, I enjoy seeing the personalities of 2 to 4 people in close proximity struggling through sometimes huge feats of endurance and courage eg: The Mum with the hubby and sons and the Dad with the 3 daughters. I love the locations and the host is pretty cute. I don't mind survivor but hardly watch it anymore, not like I used to. I will once more be glued to the sofa this evening watching it

This is probably the only season of the amazing race that I havent been watching. I find it really boring for some reason. Maybe cause its a family special, and I only prefer the "normal" version...
