Hmm, I don't think that it is anymore popular than those sports (except basketball). Just look at the ratings for the V8s and F1 races (except for the Austrailan GP)... I think it was a smart move to give the V8 rights to Seven... they can crash and burn for all I know.
But if you do decide to put one in, remove the Basketball topic... noone is really interested in tat as far as I know.
F1 races start at 11:15pm or later. (10:30pm+30 miuets of overtime from Big Brother+15 minuet F1 preview) How can it get high ratting when it is on late at night? V8's are on at the same time as AFL is on. (?) Next year will not be a problem with 7 getting the rights. 2 or 3 races shown live (?), Qualifying (?), night races shown in prime time (?), no clash with AFL (Wich will mean higher ratting for V8's) and a V8 show every Sunday afternoon. I can't wait!
And ch 10 never promote V8's. Ch 7 will promote it alot.
Many people just watch the cricket while pissing themselves with cans of VB and West End. They don't even know it's really on, and how boring it is.

I think that you are sadly mistaken
When you have 40.000 dedicated fans turning up at every race meeting, you have to wonder how many are watching the telecast. Those 40.000 in each state not holding the meeting to start with.
People spend $200.00 for a jacket from their favourite team and $88.00 for the annual Bathurst book.
V8 Supercars is big business. It is sponsored by Bigpond which has Live Feed for its members.
As for the TV, it is the other way around. Channel 10 telecast the V8 Supercars since 1997. Channel 7 did not give the rights to channel 10. It lost those rights when it was not prepare to pay the price for them.
I made some DVDs of the Bathurst telecast going back to 1984 and they were selling like hot cakes on Ebay.
And one more thing. The ratings don't and never did represent Australia. 5000 boxes attached to 5000 televisions will never represent 20 million people.

Also, suggest we have the option, when someone get's the time and then if it's do-able or hackable, to choose, mods, admins, or both. I'de feel better using this than sending private messages. Feels less gossipy and police-iness somehow... and it wouldn't necisarrily require a response from whoever gets it on the other end when it's an unreasonable complaint. This thing I mean:
