The Singing Bee did fairly well last year though it's not a huge hit.
As for Bones it does quite well and I'd be surprised (and annoyed) if Seven banished it to the summer period. |

I'm not questioning it's ratings, it being bottom of the barrel "entertainment" ensures it's successful with todays audience |

I did notice Bones was missing. Has this been consigned to end of year/summer permanently now. In NZ they are already starting new series.
I have watched up to and including episode 12 of the current US season. Love it love it love it!! |

Ten Summer Schedule PreviewBy Aaron Ryan | Nov 22, 2009 - 3:26:14 PM Channel 10 have a great line-up of new episodes of some of viewers favourite shows that will appeal to the 16-30 age group with very few repeats airing.Glee will continue with new episodes on Sunday nights. 13 episodes were produced for the first arc of the season and Ten will fast track and play them out. Ten will also serve up double new episodes of Supernatural as well as all new episodes of Futurama and the US version of Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader. In an unusual move Nurse Jackie moves to 1am to play out its final 2 episodes. I say unusual because why would the network keep the show on at 10pm in the ratings season despite its poor performance but then do something about it and shift to 1am in summer? Numb3rs returns with new episodes as well as The Office now in primetime two nights per week. White Collar (which premise looks great) continues after its preview following the Celebrity Masterchef finale. A couple of new programs that actually look pretty good are The Cleveland Show and Accidently on Purpose. Californication and Law and Order also return with new episodes. Probably the strongest of the commercial networks, Ten’s summer is looking pretty good. There are a few notable omissions. Burn Notice is taking a break despite having more episodes to air and there is no sign of Law and Order: UK that was yanked earlier this year. Was also expecting perhaps unaired episodes of The Ex List, Bondi Rescue Bali, Download, Guerilla Gardeners and 90210 and maybe even The Shield. Ten are using their midnight slots to air repeats of shows like Medium and House andNumb3rs. I will put to the network why they don’t use some of this product in those slots instead and re update this story. http://www.ebroadcast.com.au/enews/programming/Ten-Summer-Schedule-Preview-221109.html |

Nine Summer Schedule PreviewBy Aaron Ryan | Nov 22, 2009 - 3:16:43 PM Nine’s schedule in comparison to Seven’s seems a little all over the place. First the network is heavy on repeats – David Attenborough, Two and a Half Men, The Big Bang Theory, The Mentalist, What’s Good For You, Cold Case @ 9:30pm, Getaway, Rescue: Special Ops, True CSI, Wipeout and Australia’s Funniest Home Video Show. There are a few series with large episode orders that I doubt will be played out but instead will be yanked about 6 episodes in such as Burying Brian, ER, Flashpoint and CSI: New York. Like most viewers, I am glad that Survivor: Samoa is being played but I am doubtful they have a plan in place to screen all the episodes. Tuesday nights are a popular night where Nine screen cricket as day/night matches and with just one episode per week (even without cricket pre emptions) they would not get through all the episodes. Hopefully some double episodes will be played. Some new shows include Crusoe which will screen in double episodes and Rapid Response (which Adelaide viewers have seen some of already). Nine will also fast track the new season of Cold Case at 8:30pm Wednesdays but before that they will screen a new episode from the season that just aired that was never shown for some reason. It is the only unaired episode from that season. Notable omissions include Without a Trace, CSI: Miami, any of the Gordan Ramasay shows, Celebrity Singing Bee, Secret Millionaire and Animal Emergency. http://www.ebroadcast.com.au/enews/programming/Nine-Summer-Schedule-Preview-221109.html |

Seven's Summer Schedule PreviewBy Aaron Ryan | Nov 22, 2009 - 3:04:52 PM After a long delay in announcing their summer line-up for 2009, I believe Seven have produced a sensible and entertaining line-up for viewers. One of the major issues with the non ratings season is that it really only lasts ten weeks or less when you take into consideration pre emptions for things like the Australian Open or the cricket on Nine. That means if a network returns a show to its summer schedule they never end up playing out the season which results in becoming years behind with shows, with examples being Judging Amy (which expired before finishing on Nine), Gilmore Girls and ER. So I think the point of summer is to either a.) show series that a network really believes will be in the line-up for the following year b.) show series that have a limited number of episodes or c.) air shows that don’t have major carrying over storylines so that viewers can dip in and out of each week. Looking at Seven’s line-up they have done just that. They are airing observational type shows such as Border Patrol, Air Crash Investigations, Whacked Out Sports and Borderline with viewers not having to rely on episode orders and finished off seasons as they are self contained. Seven will also finish off some series such as Outback Wildlife Rescue which has only 3 episodes remaining, Destroyed in Seconds and The Amazing Race. Seven continues with Private Practice which will get very close to the American screenings. Other series such as The Take, Kingdom and Wallander have six or less episodes in their seasons. Gary Unmarried is the only show that has many episodes to play, but at twice a week the idea may be to create interest in the show for next year. Parks and Recreation and It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia have a number of episodes but as they are playing late night, there is a good chance they will continue next year. So overall I believe this is a sensible, but perhaps not all that spectacular line-up that should keep viewers that are busy with holidays an opportunity to watch stand alone television or short run series. Seven’s line up for summer: Sundays 6:30 Specials 7:30 Border Patrol 8:00 Outback Wildlife Rescue 8:30 Bones (repeats) 9:30 Castle (repeats) 10:30 Band of Brothers Mondays 7:30 The Force (not clear what episodes are being played yet) 8:00 Destroyed in Seconds 8:30 Movies (looks like at this stage) 10:30 30 Rock (repeats) 11:00 Parks and Recreation 11:30 It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia Tuesdays 7:30 Gary Unmarried Note: Will start with a double episode in Melbourne, Adelaide and Perth as these states are 1 episode behind Sydney and Brisbane 8:00 Whacked Out Sports 8:30 Private Practice 9:30 The Amazing Race 10:30 30 Rock (repeats) 11:00 Parks and Recreation 11:30 It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia Wednesdays 7:30 Air Crash Investigations 8:30 City Homicide (repeats) 9:30 The Take (4 episodes only) 10:30 Band of Brothers Thursdays 7:30 Gary Unmarried 8:00 Whacked Out Sports 8:30 Movies (at this stage) Fridays 7:30 Better Homes and Gardens (repeats) 8:30 Movies Saturdays 6:30 No Leave, No Life 7:00 Borderline 7:30 The Kingdom (6 episodes) 8:30 Wallander (3 episodes) http://www.ebroadcast.com.au/enews/programming/Seven-s-Summer-Schedule-Preview-221109.html |
