I love Stargate sg1.
I recently got my daughter hooked. I was watching the StarGate movie and my daughter sat and watched the last hour and liked it. I put in the dvd of the first episode of the series and she watched it avidly. That week the tv was in a continuous StarGate loop. Hour after hour.
She demanded to know how long I've been hiding this show from her. *smiling* She was the one that would walk in while I was watching, groan about the nerds in the house, shake her head because she was related to a StarGate watcher and walk out again.

I like Atlantis but it just isn't the same as SG1. The characters are so 'real' and likable in SG1.  Almost like family. (well I did watch a week of nonstop stargate)

I d/loaded the first three season 9 and was disappointed that Jack won't be a regular. The fan site says that he wants to spend more time with his family and that's understandable, but I will miss him.

I have watched both the latest series' and last week watched the 2 season finales. Now Jack is gone so much I think I like both Stargates equally. Richard Dean Anderson is an executive producer, is he not? So he still has a big hand in it but yes, I too heard/read where he wants to spend more time with his family. Good for him. After watching an entire series with the new SG1 crew I am hooked as much as ever. It still has that dry sense of humour as well. The Atlantis crew has grown on me as well. Especially a new guy who is a bit of a rogue. Yummo!

What new guy in Atlantis? Are you hiding him in a box under your bed? *smiling*

I have only watched the episodes that have been on TV. I haven't seen him yet. Maybe I should wear my glasses?

yes Jade   he's not too bad either. Remember the guy, Ben Browder, who was the human on Farscape (as opposed to every other creature there except for Claudia Black). He is the new Lt.Col. Cameron Mitchell. Claudia also featured in the first few episodes of this next series (just finished in the US). She was great. The humour is still there especially with her character and Dr.Daniel Jackson. Claudia was born in Sydney Australia 11th October 1972, just as a bit of trivia, and Farscape was filmed in Oz with a lot of Aussie actors in it. They translated well into Stargate SG1

Found some funny quotes from Stargate SG1

Daniel: She's Hathor, the goddess of fertility, inebriety, and music.
Jack O'Neill: Sex, drugs, and rock & roll?

Dr. Daniel Jackson, Ph.D.: This tastes like chicken.
Capt.: So what's wrong with it?
Dr. Daniel Jackson, Ph.D.: It's macaroni and cheese.

Anubis: I am Anubis.
[President Hayes steps forward]
President Hayes: You've got to be kidding!
Anubis: You are the leader of this world?
President Hayes: Henry Hayes, President of the United States of America, one nation among many.
Anubis: No more. Bow before your god.
President Hayes: [laughing] I don't think so! However, I am willing to discuss your surrender.
Anubis: If you possessed weapons matching mine, you would have used them.
President Hayes: Don't let the suit fool you, fella. We're gonna fight you.
Anubis: You bring destruction upon yourselves.
President Hayes: [pointedly] Never going to happen.
[the Anubis hologram disappears and President Hayes turns around to face the others]
President Hayes: Too much?

Jack O'Neill: [Hammond has accepted O'Neill's offer of a beer] I hope you like Guinness, sir. It's a perfect substitute for... food.

Daniel Jackson: So we'd be looking for a needle in a haystack.
Thor: A haystack of infinite size.
Daniel Jackson: That's big.

Colonel: Do you read The Bible, Teal'c?
Teal'c: It is a signigicant part of your culture. Have you not read The Bible, O'Neill?
Colonel: Of course... Actually I'm listening to it on tape. Don't tell me how it ends.

Capt.: Sir, if you don't mind, your wound is bleeding all over my lab.

Colonel: I hope you diplomatically told him where to shove it.

Capt.: Where's Daniel?
Colonel: Ernest is showing him a new toy.
Capt.: Really, what?
Colonel: Just some fancy light show that may be the key to the universe or something.

Capt.: I've just never blown up a star before.
Colonel: Well they say the first one is always the hardest.

Colonel: It's time for Plan B.
Capt.: We have a Plan B?
Colonel: No, but it's time for one.

Baal: You dare mock me?
Colonel: Come on Ba'al, you should know. Of course I dare mock you.

[repeated line]
Colonel: Oh for crying out loud!

Capt.: [repeated line] Holy Hannah!

There are just too many quotes to choose from, don't ya love it!?

Thanks for those quotes. Gave me a chuckle. Exactly why I like the show. The funny quotes from Richard Dean Anderson (O'Neill) are worth looking forward to each week. Get it back on!

Gave up watching Stargate on the Box years ago, TV stations treat Sci Fi stuff so badly when it comes to scheduling times. But I religously buy each series as it becomes available. (Except for the one time I cracked and bought it pre - australian release from Ebay - talk about bad pirate copy, complete with asian subtitles)

Oh I miss SG1...I'm afraid Atlantis never did it for me in quite the same way...no Dainel...no Jack

It seems I'm one of the few people in the known universe who refuses to buy box sets of tv shows on DVD but if I was ever going to succumb to temptation it would be SG1...maybe not the last series tho' when they lost the plot a bit...but all the others

Thanks for the quotes tho' Suzi...made me smile and remember the good old days

Cheers, BSquared

Jack wont be in hardly any of the new episodes, Phantom, but the wit and candour is plentiful with the new people and some of the old.

We are Sci-Fi freaks. Babylon 5, some of the Star Trecks (eg Voyager) and most of any others and YES Oz TV does treat Sci-fi shabbily. Damn them. Don't they realise we are religious about our SCI-FI. Beam them (the programming execs) up Scotty!
