The popular new game show in the States, Who Wants To Be A Millionaire? (based on the UK and Australian gameshow of the same name) committed its first blunder Wednesday night (if you don’t count signing Regis Philbin as host, that is).
Contestant David Honea was asked the question, “Which is the largest of the Great Lakes: Lake Erie, Lake Huron, Lake Michigan, or Lake Ontario?” Honea answered Lake Huron, but Regis informed him that the correct answer was Lake Michigan.
Although Honea did not leave empty-handed-- he won 32 large-- the question was for $64,000 and the
chance to continue on toward the top prize of $1,000,000. Before Honea left, he reportedly confronted executive producer Michael Davies, asked him to double-check the answer, and possibly told him where he could stick his $32,000. As it turns out, Honea was right.
The show plans to correct their mistake by bringing Honea back to play on.
