ABC and Columbia purchased the option for the Stooges film from Daily Variety
columnist Michael Fleming who wrote From Amalgamated Morons to American Icons: The
Three Stooges. Gibson’s will co-produce. The film will reportedly air during a sweeps period
in 2000.
The team, who is currently searching for a writer, hopes to add some top notch
talent to the project. There is also the possibility Gibson could play a small role.
The film will tell the story of Stooges' rise from vaudevillians to Hollywood
stars through the eyes of their leader Moe.
The film, said to be primarily a celebration of the Stooges’ comedy, will also explore the personal relationships between the three (which are said to have been less than amicable). Unfortunately, the film will not detail any/all pristine twenties women the three plucked while making over 200 double reel films.
All those hotties doing the jitterbug – so little time.
