The "X-Files"

Saturday 25 October 1997
By eBroadcast Staff and agencies.

Just so you can start thinking about what we will be seeing soon, here is a sampling of what's in store on "The X-Files" as it's 5th season begins in the US.

Episode highlights:

Sunday, Oct. 26 (9:00-10:00 PM ET/PT) -- Repeat of last season's finale (Part One of Three) -- Agent Mulder (David Duchovny) believes he has discovered the ultimate proof of extraterrestrial life, but when Scully (Gillian Anderson) uncovers contrary evidence, Mulder snaps emotionally while Scully is forced to confront her own mortality on "Gethsemane."

Sunday, Nov. 2 (9:00-10:00 PM ET/PT) -- Fifth Season Premiere (Part Two of Three) -- Scully's truthfulness about Mulder comes under intense scrutiny while suspicion arises that someone at the FBI -- possibly Assistant Director Skinner (Mitch Pileggi) -- was responsible for Scully's contraction of a fatal disease on "Redux."

Sunday, Nov. 9 (9:00-10:00 PM ET/PT) -- 100th Episode (Part Three of Three) --With Scully lingering near death and the future of the X-Files in danger, the Cigarette Smoking Man (William B. Davis) comes forward with a surprising offer to save Scully's life -- and more -- on "Redux II."

Sunday, Nov. 16 (9:00-10:00 PM ET/PT) -- In an episode set in 1989, we see how the trio of paranoid conspiracy theorists -- known as The Lone Gunmen -- came to be and possibly how Mulder began his quest to prove the existence of extraterrestrial life. Richard Belzer guest stars as Lt. Munch, his character from "Homicide: Life on the Street," in "Unusual Suspects."

Sunday, Nov. 23 (9:00-10:00 PM ET/PT) -- Stopped by a roadblock on their way to an FBI convention in Florida, Mulder and Scully find themselves stranded in the woods with a dealy predator in "Detour."
