Ten to record Melbourne Cup in digital formatTuesday 19 October 1999 By eBroadcast Staff and agencies.
The Ten Network will be experimenting with its Melbourne Cup coverage this year, recording the broadcast for the first time digitally and helping develop new concepts for the future when, in 2001, the event will be aired for the first time in the digital format.
Tim Webster, Sandra Sully and Peter Donegan will host Ten's telecast of the Melbourne Cup Carnical beamed into over 30 million homes in 60 countries worldwide. The telecast will include 27 hours of live coverage with a crew of around 120, the use of the GoodYear Blimp for overhead shots, and a tracking vehicle to cover the whole oval track and part of the straight.
Focus this year will be placed on live reporting of stories with an emphasis on news based pieces.
