The Screen Producers Association of Australia is holding its
annual conference in Sydney soon. From November 4-7, television and film
producers from all around Australia will meet for a series of lectures,
seminars and dinners. The big international guest this year is none other
than Star Wars supremo, George Lucas. With the latest
instalment of the Star Wars saga - The Phantom
Menace - due out next year, his lectures should prove popular with
participants.
Also jetting in this year, are movie moguls from Twentieth Century Fox and
Samuel Goldwyn Films, as well as television reps from Channel Four and
Granada Productions. Rick McCallum, a Lucasfilm producer, is
expected to attend, as is John Copeland, producer of Babylon
5. Full attendance can be expected at the "Special Effects and the
Producer" session when Lucas, McCallum, Copeland and others discuss
the do's and don'ts of special effects. Lucas delivers the opening
address at Noon on November 5
