Sadness continues to haunt the crew of the Starship Enterprise. Just weeks after DeForest Kelly (Dr. McCoy) died after a lengthy illness, news comes today that William Shatner's wife Nerine was found dead in the swimming pool of the Shatners' home in an apparent drowning. The Associated Press reports that Shatner arrived home yesterday evening at around 10:15 to find his wife at the bottom of the pool, and immediately called 911 and administered CPR to his wife, but to no avail. An autopsy is scheduled, but police are treating her death as a drowning accident and say that foul play is not a factor. A distraught Shatner spoke briefly to the press outside his home this morning, saying, "My beautiful wife is dead. She meant everything to me. Her laughter, her tears and her joy will remain with me the rest of my life." Nerine Shatner, 40, was a former model.
