MEDIA RELEASE
PERTH LAUNCH FOR DISABILITY RESEARCH PROJECT
The Physical Disability Council of Australia (PDCA) is the national peak disability organisation representing the views of people with physical disabilities across Australia. As a national organisation, PDCA is to launch a project to help in determining "The real needs of people with a physical disability."
The Executive Officer of PDCA, Sue Egan will be in Perth from 1st November to 8th November, to hold workshops in Perth, Rockingham, Bunbury and possibly two additional areas outside of Perth. The purpose of the workshops is to hear the views and concerns of people with physical disabilities, their families and carers, and organisations who provide services to people with physical disabilities.
In addition, PDCA would like to increase its network of people with physical disabilities in Western Australia, in order to be more effective in consulting and putting forward the views of Australians with a physical disability. As a national peak organisation PDCA is keen to hear from people who are interested in participating in the workshops, or if unable to attend the workshops would like to complete a questionnaire, which is also part of the project.
People from remote and rural areas, as well as people who are unable to travel to workshops, are particularly encouraged to contact PDCA and find out the best way to participate in the research project.
Contact can be made by telephone to Sue Egan 07 3267 1057 (phone and fax), until Friday and then at the Mercure Hotel in Perth from Saturday 1st November.
