South Park Continues To SlideWednesday 14 July 1999 By eBroadcast Staff and agencies.
Bigger, Longer, and Uncut might be doing well at the box office, but the television show continues to get clobbered in the ratings. Comedy Central was hopeful that the theatrical release would help boost TV ratings, but it seems the opposite is happening.

For the last six weeks in America, South Park has averaged 1.8 million viewers. During the same six week period last year, the show averaged about 2.8 million viewers. "We have not seen a ratings bounce as a result of the South Park movie," a Comedy Central spokesman said. "That doesn't mean we won't. Clearly interest remains in the South Park franchise, as evidenced by the [substantial] box-office [take] from the movie."
We have our own theory about South Park. It's called the "If the once-funny television show didn't now suck people would tune in" theory. The theory, as you can see, is pretty self-explanatory.
