Sounds Of The Eighties is a new eight part English series of archive musical performances focusing on pop, rock, post-punk, New Romantic, rap and soul.

Music clips from such British television programs as The Kenny Everett Show and Top of the Pops are interspersed with comedy sketches by The Young Ones, Alexei Sayle and Rowan Atkinson.

The first episode, hosted by Clive James, concentrates on the popstars chosen by the idol-hungry teen market - Adam and The Ants, Duran Duran, Wham!, Frankie Goes To Hollywood, Haircut 100, ABC and of course Culture Club.

Sounds Of The Eighties premiers on Friday August 25 at 7.30pm on SBS.
