Shaun Cassidy Inks Big TV DealThursday 13 May 1999 By eBroadcast Staff and agencies.
Shaun Cassidy recently signed a three-year development deal with USA worth a whopping $6M, revealing that a sucker is indeed born every minute

Cassidy, who by now many expected would have a beer belly and be singing "Da Doo Ron Ron" at run-down clubs in Reno, Nevada, has actually had quite a quiet and successful career working as a writer and producer. The former pretty boy has left his heartthrob days (acting on The Hardy Boys and topping the pop charts) far behind.
Hollywood took notice of the deal and its price tag, especially in light of USA Networks' CEO Barry Diller and his notorious tight ass. "When we have the level of conviction and confidence we do in Shaun, it's worth the price we're paying,'' USA programming president David Kissinger said while gazing at a 70's Cassidy poster and feathering his hair with an Unbreakable comb.
USA Network has already committed to 13 episodes of the nameless Cassidy vehicle and hopes Shaun will have the project ready to air by next January.
Cassidy's producer credits include American Gothic, Roar, and Players. He also created the Fox drama Hollyweird, which never made it to the small screen due to creative differences.
No word yet as to whether Cassidy plans to show up on VH1's Where Are They Now lying in a pile of phat cash with several Penthouse Pets and exclaiming, "I got your Where Are They Now right here, bitch."
