Sharon Stone Signs Up For Basic Instinct 2Monday 26 June 2000

Sharon Stone is set to reprise her role as the seductive murderer Catherine Tremell in the follow up to her 1992 break-through hit, Basic Instinct.
Stone, who is rumored to be earning up to $25 million for the sequel, will not be joined by her former co-star Michael Douglas. Also, both director Paul Verhoeven and screenwriter Joe Eszterhas will not be back for the encore.
Originally turning down the chance to play Catherine Tremell for a second time for fear of tarnishing the original's mystique, Stone decided to sign on after the producers were considering replacing her with another actor.
