Seven Network to launch website for womenMonday 6 December 1999 By eBroadcast Staff and agencies.
According to the Sofcom IT News site, the Seven Network's online business arm, i7, has announced a joint venture agreement with online publisher Highball to launch an internet portal dedicated to women - WomenZone.
As a uniquely Australian online community, WomenZone will be a support group of like-minded people and will be run by a number of leading female journalists and professionals.
Targeted at women aged 25 years and older, who are typically time-poor, the portal aims to provide women with control - through making routine demands such as shopping, banking and searching for goods and services, easier and more efficient; choices - through the provision of concise authoritative content; and connection - through participating in a community of like-minded women where they can find and give advice in a context of mutual support.
Managing Director of i7 Andrew Cohen says "Womenzone will create a valuable resource and destination for what is arguably a most important online demographic. The value of the site is the frequency and regularity with which the community participate."
