It looks like the Seven Network is finally getting serious about trying to develop their own sitcoms. And I don’t put the current offering of “Bullpitt” into this category.
The new head of comedy development has been appointed in Sydney. He is John O’Grady, a veteran of 27 years with the ABC and the person who was responsible for getting “Mother and Son” to air.
His brief is to remedy the dismal Australian sitcom situation. Sound familiar?
I hope that he really has the backing of the network chiefs on this one. I know for a fact they have some wonderful sitcom concepts and scripts just waiting for someone to take a serious look at them. And we’re the winners here if he can find at least one good one.
