Senior ABC Executive Made RedundantWednesday 31 May 2000 By eBroadcast Staff and agencies.
Andrew Lloyd James, one of the most respected executives in Australia television has been made redundant.
In a devastating move by new managing director Jonathan Shier, Lloyd James was informed that his outstanding services were no longer required under a proposed executive restructure.
This is the second time that a senior executive has departed the ABC since the appointing of new managing director Shier. Network scheduler Hugh McGowan angrily resigned in April, after only month under the new leadership.
Andrew Lloyd James said yesterday “I believe it’s fair to say the principles of public broadcasting will need to be protected”.
