The Wrestling returned to Australian prime-time television last Saturday
night for the first time since the 1980s. You have to wonder if Santo
Cilauro had anything to do with this as he has been promoting it
heavily on The Panel. If you like pile drivers, body slams,
chin locks, leg sweeps, submission holds and leg locks, then the World
Wrestling Federation (WWF - not to be confused with the World Wildlife
Fund) will provide you with plenty of action this Summer. Here's the
lowdown on who's who in the WWF for those viewers new to the ….er…um…
sport.
Stone Cold Steve Austin
Former Champ. A bald dude with attitude. Nicknamed "The Rattlesnake". His
finishing move is the "Stone Cold Stunner"
The Undertaker
A 7 foot man in black who looks like a dead biker. Finishing move - "The
Tombstone".
Kane
The Undertaker's brother. Wears a mask because he was horribly disfigured
in a fire. Likes to choke-slam his opponents.
Mankind
A Psychotic masked cellar dweller who runs around wearing a hand puppet
he
calls Mr Socko.
Vince McMahon
Not a wrestler, but the owner and CEO of the WWF. He hates Austin
with a passion and has been trying to get rid of him. He's devious and
manipulative.
Shane McMahon
Another official, and Vince McMahon's son. A chip off the old
block
The Rock
The current champ. Part of McMahon's stable. Finishing moves -
"The
People's elbow" and "The Rock Bottom".
Ken Shamrock
Former Ultimate Fighting Championship Champion. Referred to as "The Most
Dangerous Man Alive".
Al Snow
Carries a mannequin's head around that he calls Head. Naturally
the
crowd chants "We want Head. We want Head".
The Blue Blazer
Who is this mysterious masked man? Keep watching to find out.
The Big Boss Man
Vince McMahon's bodyguard. A former corrections officer who still
whacks people with his prison-issue nightstick.
Viewing tip:
Keep an eye on some of the signs held up by audience members. They're
often
quite funny.
