Safran & Stubbs Switch To SevenSunday 27 December 1998 By eBroadcast Staff and agencies.
John Safran, arguably the most intriguing star to come out of ABC's Race Around The World series, has struck double-show deal with Seven Network.
According to The Sunday Age in Melbourne, Safran will be part of two new half-hour programs run back-to-back once a week, to air in Seven's current late-night wasteland.
The first program, The Big News, is a current affairs sendup anchored by Marg Downey (as Jana?) and a team that includes fellow Fast Forward veterans Michael Veitch, Peter Moon and Gina Riley, in addition to some new faces.
The second show is entitled Live Wire, a "comic version of Lateline", according to McKenna, anchored by comedian Richard Stubbs and The Australian columnist Emma Tom. Safran will be "out on the road" (watch out, Ray Martin!).
