Roswell star Katherine Heigl has signed on to play a medical student in the new film Valentine.

Also starring David Boreanaz (Angel), Valentine tells the story of a college nerd (Boreanaz) who becomes the unfortunate victim of a cruel practical joke by four women. More than a decade later, the now handsome and successful Boreanaz still caries a grudge - a grudge that leads to murder.

Valentine is based on Tom Savage's bestselling 1996 novel.
