Quayle, Letterman Make Up On Late ShowThursday 7 October 1999 By eBroadcast Staff and agencies.
Recent political drop out Dan Quayle made his first appearance on The Late Show last night. More surprising than the applause he received was the fact that he actually showed some wit and semi-intelligence during the interview.
Quayle started out the dialogue by stating that he was there for his "apology," and went on to declare his
now-famous potato debacle a misunderstanding. The former yes-man claims he was originally shown a cue card with the incorrect spelling and figured, “it was creative spelling."
Quayle was also quick to dismiss a possible second spin at Vice President with George W. "I've been there, done that," he said. "I don't want to get back on your show as often as I was." That’s okay Dan.
