The revamped People's Choice Awards saw host station, Channel 7, win a swag of awards last Friday night. Lisa McCune, a competent host, lacked the showbiz flair for the role of M.C. but again proved she is the most popular person on Australian television by winning the major award.

• THUMBS DOWN to the old duck from Keeping Up Appearances, who seemed to think she was delivering the Queen's Christmas Message.

• THUMBS DOWN to Ann Peacock and Michael Kroger, the Crown Casino celebrity couple from Hell for just turning up.
