Television ratings for last night's second State Of Origin match between NSW and Queensland eclipsed the first match a fortnight ago, according to ACNielsen figures released today.
NSW won 12-8, sending the best-of-three series into a decider at Suncorp Stadium on Wednesday June 23.
In Sydney an average 1,212,375 viewers watched the game between 8.00pm and 10.00pm with Nine's telecast hitting a peak rating of 47 at 9.45pm with 1,284,000 viewers.
This means last night's game, played in pouring rain before a crowd of 88,000 at Stadium Australia, was watched by 158,625 more viewers than the opening encounter on June 9.
Brisbane recorded similar results when an average 767,250 tuned into the game and Nine's coverage peaking at 50 at 9.30pm with 811,000 viewers. Nine's overall coverage from 7.30pm to 10.10pm averaged 704,000. This was 50,750 more viewers than the first match.
Nine will screen live coverage of the decider on Wednesday June 23 from 7.30pm in NSW and Qld.
