It's an avalanche of sitcoms and teen drama's for the Nine Network this summer.
Starting Monday November 29 at 9.00pm, Jennifer Grey (Dirty Dancing) and Chris Eigeman star in the sitcom It's Like, You Know. Produced by Peter Mehlman (Seifeld, Cheers, Frasier), Jennifer Grey (as herself) plays Eigeman's neighbour whose celebrity status has been threatened by a nose job which has rendered her virtually unrecognisable.
Premiering 9.30pm the same night is Hyperion Bay, a teen drama dealing with issues of sibling rivalry and culture clash. Hyperion Bay features Mark-Paul Gosselaar (Saved By The Bell, Dead Man On Campus), Dylan Neal (Bold and the Beatiful, Dawson's Creek, Pacific Palisades) and Cassidy Rae (Models Inc). Gosselaar stars as the high school geek who struggles to make good and attempts to save his seaside home town from finacial ruin.
On Tuesday, December 7 at 8.00pm, Nine debuts The Norm Show starring Laurie Metcalf (Roseanne) and Norm MacDonald as the title character. From the co-creator and executive producer of The Drew Carey Show.
On Thursday December 16 at 8.30pm, David Caruso (NYPD Blue) returns to series television in the legal drama Michael Hayes. This one has been on the shelf at Nine for a while now, and it bombed badly in the States, dispite okay reviews.
The silly season also sees the return of Murphy Brown favourite Faith Ford in the new comedy Maggie Winters. Ford plays the title character who suffers low self-esteem after attending her high school reunion. As Maggie learns to forge ahead at home while trying to live down the golden girl image of her past, her mother constantly reminds Maggie of her wasted potential while her former classmates seem to be dragging her back to high school and all the issues she thought no longer existed.
Maggie Winters premieres on the Nine Network on Friday, December 10 at 8.00pm.
