The Nine Network have announced they will broadcast the 1999 Academy Awards at the new time of 7.30pm Monday, March 22.
This is the first time the awards have been broadcast in the earlier timeslot of 7.30pm, meaning Friends and Jesse fans will have to skip their weekly dose of American sitcom for American "Thank You God's".
Whoopie Goldberg presents the 71st Annual Academy Awards from the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion in LA. This year's presenters include Nicolas Cage, Kim Basinger, Ben Affleck and Helen Hunt, and nominees include Australians Cate Blanchett, Rachel Griffiths and Geoffrey Rush, as well as Tom Hanks, Gwyneth Paltrow, Nick Nolte and Judi Dench.
