Sale Of The Century co-host, Nicky Buckley, has announced she is leaving the show and the Nine Network.
Buckley joined Sale Of The Century in 1989 as a model and began co-hosting the program with Glenn Ridge in 1994.
“I’ve had a fabulous time on Sale, working with great people at Grundy’s and Nine,” said Nicky. “But after 10 years, it is time I spread my wings outside Nine and the beginning of the new millennium seemed like the right time for new challenges.”
The popular Nine personality declined several propositions from the network involving other programs, which has lead to speculation that a high profile offer has been made by another channel.
“We are very disappointed that Nick is leaving the network. She has been an important part of Sale’s success,” said Ian Johnson, Managing Director of GTV 9 in Melbourne. “However, I respect Nicky’s decision and wish her all the best, and sincerely hope she’ll return to the network in the future.”
“I’ll miss Nicky immensely," said co-host Glenn Ridge. “She is one of the nicest and easiest people to work with in the business and she will be missed by the entire crew.”
In February 2000, the quiz program will be renamed Sale Of The New Century. A replacement for Buckley will be announced in January.
