The Ten Network is presenting its newest U.S. acquisition, the hit sitcom "NewsRadio." The show premieres on Thursday night at 8pm following "Seinfeld."The show is set in the fictional WNXY news radio station in New York City. The show takes a bemused look at the eccentric lives of a group of diverse people when they become an extended family in the workplace. The lead role falls on Dave Folley who plays Dave Nelson, an enthusiastic young man who has just moved to New York City and finds that his first assignment at this new job is to fire his predecessor. Thrown into the job of news director, Nelson must interpret the signals his eccentric boss Jimmy, played by Stephen Root, is sending out. He also has to pacify a flamboyant on-air talent Bill, played by Phil Hartman, earn the respect of his off-beat secretary Beth, played by Vicki Lewis and the highly nervous copywriter Matthew, played by Andy Dick and come to terms with a very attractive longtime newswriter and loyal employee Lisa Miller, played by Maura Tierney, who thought she was in line for the job. "NewsRadio" has been a hit in the States and has been compared to that sitcom classic "KRCP Cincinatti" the launching pad for Lonnie Anderson.
