Glen Taylor, the popular Ten newsreader, has been sacked. Sources advise the reason is due to an on-air comment he made about testicles.
After co-reader Marie-Louise Thiele ended a sentence with the word "suspended", Taylor added the words "by the balls", before the story rolled on. Taylor claimed it was an April Fools Day joke.
Taylor still had 18 months still left on his contract and has made it clear he does not want to leave the television industry.
Geoff Mullins, the Ten News summer co-reader and journalist, will fill the vacant seat. It is not known if Mullins will be the permanent co-reader.
Taylor replaced Des McWilliam in 1991, who was sacked in a similar way.
McWilliam is now reading WIN Sunshine Coast News.
