The collective whine from Nanny regulars is reaching decibels that may cause many house pets to jump through plate glass windows at 90mph. And, unfortunately for little domestic creatures everywhere, the end is not near.
Fran Drescher started it all by complaining that CBS is depriving her faithful fans the chance of tuning in for one last annoying laugh. Drescher's fans, meanwhile, have responded like Janet Reno with PMS by backing up their leading lady, taking it to the web for the all too familiar bitch-until-you-get-what-you-want campaign.
Reportedly at issue are The Nanny's five 'lost' episodes.
Two weeks ago, CBS announced it was pulling the dead-beat comedy from its
Wednesday lineup in place of something that meets the criteria of being remotely entertaining, Everybody Loves Raymond. The thing that hurt Nannyfans the most: The episodes of Raymond are reruns.
Pretty sad when new episodes of a show get the axe for repeats of another. What's even
more sad? That's how much The Nanny stinks.
The banishment is to last until May 19, when the series' finale is scheduled to air. That means that the next time you see The Nanny will be the last time you see The Nanny.
.
"I have no idea why this decision was made, and I have much regret that the
audience that supported us all these years will be shortchanged," Drescher told today's
New York Post while trying to seem like she doesn't realize her show blows donkeys.
Nanny fans are fighting back.
"We aren't asking for the moon here, folks, just the chance to see all the
episodes that were produced, preferably, in order," reads the sassy mission
statement on The Nanny Fans Fight Back! webpage.
Fans are urged to deluge CBS and various media outlets with email, snail
mail, and faxes. Pretty please, with sugar on top, no naked photos.
CBS is keeping their trap shut at the moment. A network spokesperson
said no decision has been made regarding the unscheduled, unaired episodes.
Our guess is the lost episodes are in a trash receptacle where they belong.
